MightySkate
'Transformers' HD DVD Smashes First-Week Sales Records Paramount says first-week sales numbers for its HD DVD release of 'Transformers' top those of any other high-def disc released on either next gen format to date. According to a just-issued press release from Paramount, the HD DVD edition of 'Transformers' sold over 100,000 units in its first day of release, and went on to sell an additional 90,000 units over next six days, making it the fastest and best-selling week one release on either high definition format, as well as the best selling HD DVD ever. The standard-def version of 'Transformers' also made news, moving over 8.3 million units in its first week, and 4.5 million copies on day one, a new record for the year 2007. The performance of the 'Transformers' DVD and HD DVD has demonstrated the phenomenal success of this global franchise," said Kelley Avery, president, Worldwide Home Entertainment, Paramount Pictures. “We’re happy to be kicking off the fourth quarter with a title that clearly shows home entertainment releases are still an event that drives consumers into stores—which is a win for both content providers and retailers.” Paramount's HD DVD release of 'Transformers' last week came less than two months after the studio abruptly announced it would drop support of the Blu-ray format, and would release its next-gen titles on HD DVD exclusively. The studio reportedly received $150 million in exchange for its exclusivity. Now if only the PAL dvd+r came out sooner
MarketTantrik
^^ $ 150 mil for exclusivity :shock3: This is getting out of hand. So they pay $150 mil and the first release ends up selling 190K in eight days. At an average price of $25, the HD-DVD release has raked in $ 4.75 mil. It may top out at $ 10 mil for the HD-DVD release. That is some seriously poor ROI and a very big risk, but if this keeps up, it may swing more studios in HD-DVD's favour. In any case, Transformers rules whether on HD or SD formats :jumpy: P.S. Does anyone have data on Spidey 3 Bluray sales?

DeeMan
Just watched Laaga Chunari Mein Daag....was a decent watch. Some parts were really well done though. Acting was top notch, but screenplay & plot was not taut enough in some places.
MarketTantrik
Castlevania Movie Gets Its Hurry On From Kotaku http://kotaku.com/gaming/castlevania/castl...y-on-314274.php ________________________________________________________________________ In case you're oblivious to what's going on with those other colours of the popular culture rainbow, Hollywood's in a spot of bother at the moment. Al those writers who write movies for Hollywood are about to go on strike. Which gets us two things, both of which are good. One is that the torrent of forgettable romantic comedies and rubbish psychological thrillers may just dry up! The other is that a bunch of movies already in the pipeline are being rushed through, hopefully with disastrous results. One of those is the Castlevania movie. Producer Paul W.S. Anderson: [i'm] hoping to get a script for it in two or three weeks. And I'm hoping it's great. Sylvain White is directing it, and we're hoping to kind of make it a pre-strike movie. So it kind of shoots in the next couple months. Gaming adaptations are bad enough, but a rushed one? This should be good. Good as in bad. Bad as in hilarious. ________________________________________________________________________

Tyler
Nah... he should go back to making movies like Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. I think he has done enough to convince people of his love for old B flicks by doing the Kill Bill series and Death Proof.
