Oh and in case you guys didn't know... The Wachowski Brothers are directing a live-action adaption of the Speed Racer cartoon. It's set to be released in Summer 2008 and unlike the Wachowski's previous flicks - The Matrix trilogy and Bound, this one will be a PG family film. The Bros will once again seemingly reinvent the wheel when it comes to visual effects since Speed Racer is supposed to feature some new kind of VFX technology.

Here's a preview pic of the Mach 5...

Yes it's out in the states and according to viewer reviews it seems to be good. It seems there's a huge twist which changes your perspective on the first three movies.

BTW, 5 and 6 are also on their way...

I am still not convinced that Olyphant is the right choice for Agent 47. He's got pouty lips like Angelina Jolie and too much of a chocolate boy look. He's just not bad-a*s enough.

I totally agree. And as if the movie didn't look shitty enough, they had to go and cut out all the violence from a la AVP.

I wish Hollywood wouldn't wimp out on game to movie translations. I mean, look at the Resident Evil movies. They are pretty crappy, but still fun, because they are decently graphic. Anyone who has played the Hitman games knows how violent they can be if the player chooses to ignore the stealth route. The filmmakers should have straddled some middle ground. Another thing is that the screenies posted above really scare me cause they show a caring, romantic side to Agent 47, and thats just total BS

Who said the violence is cut from the movie? Hitman is still rated R.

But yeah, the romantic stuff still looks scary...

I guess they're trying to make it like The Bourne Identity.

I still have hopes for the film though.

And at least everyone should be thankful Uwe Boll isn't directing it.

Tekken, Onimusha Movie News

From Kotaku

There's been a Tekken movie in the pipeline for yeeeeaaaaars now. Thing is, it's gone nowhere, spending a good 3-4 years in limbo. Probably because nobody could be bothered getting it running, especially after Dead Or Alive's stellar box office reception. Well Screen Gems don't seem to mind, getting the ball rolling by releasing a teaser poster as well as announcing Charles Stone will direct. Stone's pedigree? Dude directed and starred in those Budweiser "waaassuuppp" ads. Yup.

ONIMUSHA: Christophe Gans' work on a screenplay is coming along nicely, and word is it'll start filming next April. We know, he botched Silent Hill, but Onimusha has a lot more kicking to the face. Those movies are a lot harder to mess up.

The guy who wrote that thing is a loser... the Silent Hill movie kicked a*s! Sure it wasn't as good as the games but it still had the right tone, setting, VFX, creature effects and gore.

BTW, a Silent Hill sequel is also in the works.

Exactly!

My favorite video game movies so far have been...

Mortal Kombat - I still get a kick from that techno music and fight scenes! Even though the VFX look dated now, I still love to watch the movie.

Silent Hill - no need to explain. I love all things Silent Hill.

Resident Evil trilogy - Yes, it is cheesy and stupid and doesn't follow the plot of the games but it's cool and I like it. The games also have cheesy dialog and lame voice acting.

Unfortunately there were some really bad ones like Street Fighter, DOA, Super Mario Bros and Doom (which did have it's moments but still failed). And of course, all VG movies made by Uwe Boll suck and now he's butchering Far Cry.

^^You guessed it right, the fight cntrls(duck, block, attack, kick etc) form an 'x' symbol on the keyboard + u need 4 directional keys ! Combined together, u need 4 hands if u want to pull of some clever stunts ! Its especially difficult with so many characters and each character having a different special ability....highly frustrating :nerves: !

MK brings back a lot of memories! During summer vacations my bro and I used to stay up all night playing these games! Fun times...
