Watched Harry Potter & The Half-Blood Prince on Thursday. Was gonna post my review right after the show but was too tired. And the last 3 days were hectic as hell :( No time even for GI.

Anyway, I liked the movie but I do have a few complaints, especially since HBP is my favorite book in the series.

- There was absolutely no focus on the Alchemy book and the identity of the Prince. I mean that was the whole freakin' theme of the book!

- The Pensieve scenes. Too few, too short. I don't think most of the (non-book reading) audience even understood what was going on.

- Very little explanation of

the Horcruxes

. That was easily the best & most shocking revelation in the book and it wasn't handled so well in the movie.

-

Attack on the Burrow... the Burrow burns down...

WTF??

- Still no info on Dobby or Kreacher. I wonder how they are gonna explain certain key stuff in the next movie without them.

HBP is probably the most plot-driven of all the books, with very few action-y parts so I can imagine it was kind of difficult to make a summer blockbuster out of it. With that said, HBP still works as a movie. The romance part kind of overshadowed the rest of the plot though. While it was handled really well, it distracted a lot from the actual plot. There are some parts which Yates absolutely nailed.

- Draco Malfoy - he was perfect in this one. The bathroom fight was very well done and still effective despite the rating. I was wondering how they would show the ending of the fight while still keeping the PG-13 rating.

- The entire cave sequence to the finale atop the Astronomy Tower. Absolutely flawless. It was just like how I had imagined it while reading the book.

- The movie overall flowed better than the last one which was criminally short. There are some parts in HBP where the audience may feel "bored" but those are actually the best parts.

- The Quidditch scenes were awesome. Much better than how they were shown in the previous movies.

- The kids have really matured as actors and it shows. This movie had their best performances so far.

Overall, HBP is better than the last movie and Goblet Of Fire, but Azkaban still remains my favorite Potter movie.

It's a good thing they're splitting it. There's wayy too much happening in the last book to stuff into a single movie. And I'd hate it if the

battle of Hogwarts is anything less than 30 mins!
