The worst part is that, its an unnecessarily extravagant and prolonged sequence that ultimately amounts to ZILCH. The other sequence you are referring to is so lame, its beyond belief. Its a prime example of compensating for the lack of script, story-boarding, acting talent and other essential ingredients, with an inflated CGI budget and then still trying to do more than budget for. I just hope the multiplexes here are open on the 21st. @MT thnx for lowering my expectations to almost null. The movie doesn't do a very good job of explaining the premise. Once you've read the novel you'll realize that it's a pretty decent adaptation. Aftrunner Posted August 10, 2009 Report Share Posted August 10, 2009 Saw Public enemies. Not bad, not great either. IMO, wait for the DVD, its not worth going to the theatre for. It has its moments, there is a shootout thats very reminiscent of Heat (only not as good) and there is a small face off between Depp and Bale (again Deniro and Pacino in Heat come to mind but this one is too brief) but aside from that there isn't much that stands out. Bale is mostly wasted on a role that doesn't really have much range or scope. Depp's performance kept reminding me of DiCaprio in Catch me if you can. He has the charm and the presence but (for me) its still not one of his better performances, at times it feels like he is phoning it in. Mostly it just made me wish I was re watching Heat at home. BTW PVR Saket has to have the crappiest, most cramped seats I have ever seen in any theatre. And I have seen films at some total shitholes.
