just saw The Orphan

After a long time a good horror/ thriller out of hollywood. The non slash and gore kind.

Though it does make use of the cheap horror shots (camera closing in on mirror as a face pops up, creaking doors etc); the narration of the story still makes these moments worth the effort.

Loved how the characters have been developed, they involve you on a emotional level so that you really feel for them as sh*t starts to hit the ceiling.

The end is slightly predictable, but still edge of seat material.

Would recommend not to people who like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre kind of puke fests; but to people like me who crave great atmosphere, brilliant characters and fear that stems from knowing whats the worst that could happen and half expecting that to happen.

4/5.. Do yourself a favor. Go watch

Saw "the ugly truth". Decent pastime for a weekend evening. Typical comedy - decent casting, a-tad-above-average performances, no story, and definitely more than a couple of "extremely" funny moments/dialogues -

vibrating innerwear; wet crotch; et al

. 7/10

oh, and Katherine Heigl :naughty:

The Great Buck Howard (2008)

Adequately funny satire about the entertainment business. John Malkovich steals the show with a winning performance, as always. Third act cliche ridden though. Movie is worth your time nevertheless. Watch.

Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel (2009)

Brilliant low budget scifi comedy. If you're like me and will watch anything with the words 'time travel' in it you absolutely should not miss this one. It's smart, original, witty and it's got Anna Faris in her career best performance. And with a runtime of 80 min, the exact length of a certain underwhelming 2 episode season opener, it doesn't overstay its welcome. This ought to be high on your must watch list.

The only thing good about the double episode was it started with a Radiohead song.

Otherwise, the season opener lifted stuff off every other asylum drama.

The Alvie character was a straight ripoff of Brad Pitt's character from 12 monkeys. Everyone else was a bunch of asylum stereotypes you've seen in everything from Cuckoo's nest to K-Pax.

WTF was the point of Franka Potente's character. Let's find a nice girl with indie-cred to get House laid?

House normally has good celeb guests. Edward Norton would've made a perfect Alvie.

Anyway, if the same writing team's gonna work on the rest of Season 6, I'm afraid to announce, House has JTSed.
