From what i gather there must have been a scalping scene that was censored.

What makes you think so? Abrupt cut? And which part was it in? I'll be able to confirm or deny.

Very abrupt cuts towards the end of the movie. Especially the part where the Jew hunter surrenders to Aldo after crossing into American lines

After the surrender they shot the driver, and then i assume he was scalped due to all the abrupt cuts, but this wasnt shown. After that I assume a swastika was carved into the Jew Killers head as well, but once again this was not shown.

GOOD LORD THEY RUINED THE ENDING! WHAT GOOD IS IT WITHOUT THE PAYOFF!

Did Aldo do his

fourth wall thing at the end, saying how it was his best work and all

damn...i just read the imdb parental guide for the movie

they definitely did not show this

Several lingering shots then show the skin separating as blood flows and Landa screams in agonizing amounts of pain.

But not totally effective without the

close up of a swastika being carved into a Nazi forehead. That was BRUTAL :chair:

Liked the movie did you?

Did they show all the

scalpings during the bear jew intro? And yea, the driver gets scalped

UP CLOSE lol.

Landa's

crazy screaming

I wonder what other little bits they cut out..

 not even one

I still enjoyed the movie though. And here i feared that it might end up like Death Proof.

Christoph Waltz was absolutely brilliant as Landa.

The baseball bat hit was at the very end of the while sequence and there was a ton of scalping before it..

ghb

Edit: Did they show the

end massacre in it's entirety? The shooting/slaughter went on for ages, limbs popping off, etc. lol

there were scalped heads lying everywhere during the bear jew sequence...i thought if they can show that and hilter's face getting pumped with bullets...probably they respected the 18+ certificate...obviously even adults are meant to be spood fed

Just came back from watching Inglourious Basterds. In short, loved it.

Now onto more details...

Definitely my second favorite movie of this year (behind District 9) and Tarantino's best work since Pulp Fiction (and yes I still think Pulp Fiction was his best).

Christopher Waltz as Col. Landa of course stole the show but I still felt his actions during the end was a little bit out of character, considering

he could have become a hero either way by saving Hitler and capturing the Basterds.

Either way, I can look past that, this is a Tarantino movie and his characters very rarely have logical motives. This is one of Brad Pitt's best roles... he was almost like a Nazi-hating Tyler Durden. Eli Roth was more tolerable than I expected (awesome intro btw) and the ladies were fine (I have a thing for Diane Kruger).

My favorite scenes were probably the very first chapter and the tavern. The ending was pretty awesome as well and I loved the fourth wall moment before the credits started to roll. There were plenty of hilarious scenes and lines. Loved the part where

Landa was talking to the Basterds disguised as Italians (and failing miserably)

Anyway, those who love Tarantino's style and unique scripts will surely love this movie. It was great to see him using his trademark style in a non-contemporary setting. That alone makes the movie worth the price of admission.

There were only 2-3 places where there were blatant cuts courtesy of the CBFC

and both involved scalping

but most of the other violence

the baseball bat beating, throat slitting, variety of shootouts and the finger in the gunshot wound

were there in their full glory.

Afty, do catch it in the theater and then buy the DVD when it comes out. The cuts (although frustrating) do not affect the movie as much as you'd think.

PS: Everyone, do not try to look for historical inaccuracies in the movie. It's a work of pure fiction. I heard some folks argue about the ending while walking out and all I could do was wonder why they even bother watching movies like these.

BTW, was that Samuel L Jackson's voice when they explained the

inflammable films

? I'm pretty sure it was him...

Great, everyone's loved it so far :O

Landa was so totally in character (specifically slimy, no-good bastard) all the way through. Not to mention smart. He knew

the Germans couldn't win even if he did save Hitler, so he chose the best option available to him, the sneaky rat.

You forgot the

swastika carving!

They cut that out too.

@Aftrunner. You're going to be stuck with cuts on DVD unless you import it. Might as well watch it now, but remember that the best part in the end, the payoff for everything Landa pulled has been chopped off. Cutting that out COMPLETELY ruins the ending. You really need to see the uncut version. It's quite a lengthy sequence and very noisy because of Landa's screams :wOOtjumpy:
