Ne0
Another bollywood actor to look forward to is Farhan Akthar. I liked most of his movies - DCH, Lakshya, Rock-on and the recent luck by chance. I dropped out Don (remake), didn't like it that much.
Tyler
whoa dude.. before Big B was Big B, he was vijay dinanath chauhan and so much more. He doesnt need those "banners" to be big. they help for sure, but he dont need them. Do you know Big B's career took off under big banners in the 70s. One of them was Yash Chopra's productions which eventually became Yash-Raj a.k.a. the SRK vehicle. Vijay Dinanath Chauhan came much... MUCH later. Ne0
Actually the credit should go to salim javed. They scripted most of Big B's early movies.
chirag_gupta
ok. have a look, abhay Deol's new movie ROAD MOVIE. good cast of reputed actors and directed by Dev Benegal. TEASER- http://vimeo.com/6432585 MOVIE CLIP- http://vimeo.com/6550792 Impressive. I really like the way Abhay Deol is choosing his movies, my fav indian actor. He is gonna be great if he doesnt fall into the kara johar-yashraj-nadiadwala trap of course. Amazing trailer!

Tyler
You are right to a certain extent but much like how today's big movies are about NRIs and foreign locations, the 70s and 80s were full of pulp Bollywood stuff - you know running around trees, crying mothers, stereotyped characters, dhishum-dhishum etc etc. That was the money-making USP in those days. Amitabh has done a lot of those. Just watch 'Mard'. I'm sure even Big B himself would be embarrassed. The point is that sooner or later actors have to go mainstream in order to get popular. Abhay Deol is a good actor and chooses his roles wisely no doubt, but is he ever gonna get as famous as Hrithik Roshan? Naseeruddin Shah, Farookh Shaikh etc were (are) all great actors but did they ever make it big? Edited November 19, 2009 by Ser Tyler
achilles
btw, just came back after seeing Kurbaan. Another movie which just falls a little short of being very good. K-Jo had to bring unneccessary emo into what was a pretty tight movie. Still unlike his other movies. dude.. cmon.. Kurbaan is a pile of garbage. none of the actors acted well. saif seems to have only 2 expressions, smiling.. and not smiling. i couldn't actually believe it was kjo productions.. the production values were pathetic. the story never really took off. drab till the end. it was like things are just.. happening. the cameos were meaningless. and the morons were just getting their guns and bombs in as if the subway is an open field and they were welcomed in to burst crackers oh.. and the lovemaking.. as out of place as a qadbury dairymilk in Saw we'd actually gone to watch Ajab prem but those morons had substituted it's show for Kurbaan preview. They have hardly delivered a hit in perhaps the past 2 years. While movies like Kaminey did well, movies like Dil Bole hadippa and Blue are getting ignored. Looks like people have had enough of routine run of the mill bollywood movies
