Anyone who doesn't know about/doesn't give this film credit should be taken to the woods and shot (like in the film).

This is one of the best sequences in film history. And the best use of Danny Boy (the folk song that plays over it).

Not my favourite Coen Brothers' movie (it's Barton Fink btw) but agree with best use of Danny Boy in a film.

Also, there is a version of the song covered by Diana Krall. It's pretty amazing

Really? They're just cartoon posters based on TF2. There's far worse stuff (actual photos even) in many avatars.

besides the avatar keeps changing if you've noticed. It's a dynamic one. alternates between 5 different pictures.

I missed it. Could you link it?

keep the curtains open and a picture of your boss handy

Agreed.

If the movie doesn't scare look at the picture of your boss.

so just saw Inglorious Basterds.. amazing amazing movie. think this is Tarantino's best movie since Pulp Fiction. The tension in the movie is incredible, even the background score could not have been better. wana bash myself for not watching it all this while... even though it's been weeks since i got it.

and and.. the dumbest Nazi shown is actually

the Führer himself

:(

No love for Fargo? Darn 'tootin? :fear:

Not even Hudsucker Proxy? :( Newman, man! NEWMAN!

Diana Krall is awesome. The Chieftains! I love Celtic music, man. Speaking of which, I like Sinead O'Connor's version the best because of the extra political lyrics. It's the kind of stuff I get off on.

But if I live,

and should you die for Ireland,

Let not your dying thoughts

be just of me.

But say a prayer to God

for our dearest Ireland.

I know He'll hear

and help to set her free.

United Ireland/Free Scotland. Believe.

Oh, I love Fargo and Hudsucker Proxy. I watched Baton Fink at a time which made it a really important film for me. And I'm a slut for surrealism and noir.

BTW Fargo was the first Coen Brothers movie I ever watched.

I've heard Sinead O'Connor on a few occasions, never heard her version of Danny Boy. Thanks for the recommendation.

I saw "Rocket Singh:Salesman of the year". Clever and witty flick, another movie which deviates form the formulaic stories and ends up very good. And Ranbir Kapoor is easily one of the best current-gen actors around. I was surprised that this came from YRF banner. I think 2009 has been a pretty good year in terms of quality bollywood movies, there were easily 8-10 movies which I liked :chair:

Sad thing is, I heard the above mentioned movie didn't do well at the BO, which is a shame :P

Saw 3 idiots yesterday. Was quite an entertaining watch. Aamir played his part well and Kareena was looking fabulous as well. Typical R. Hirani fare.

Some parts were completely unnecessary. I didn't think it either of the suicides were warranted. They never are, but in the movie's case , things didn't get that bad for both of them. Atleast it didn't for Joy Lobo. The whole pregnancy scene was a joke and didn't invoke any emotions in anyone in the cinema hall. Chatur aka Silencer's speech was a gem. I was ROFLing for a long time after that scene ended. Plus, I could see the twists from a mile. I was sure that Phunsuk wangdoo would be Aamir only when we found out that he isn't the real Rancchoddas

About the whole Chetan Bhagat vs 3 Idiots team brouhaha, I didn't find many plot elements lifted from the book. Infact, the protagonist's charatecter is different from the book itself. Other than the start, a completely new story has been weaved. Either I have forgotten the book's story or Bhagat is just trying to cash in on the hype of the movie by selling few more copies. His statement "If you dont believe me, read the book and watch the movie" is such an subtle marketing attempt :D. But yea adding a "Inspired from XYZ" statement at the start of the movie wouldn't hurt anyone, no idea why the producers are being such jerks.
