Watched Sherlock Holmes, finally.

Guy Ritchie's approach to the iconic character is pretty interesting. He definitely had a franchise in mind while making this one. The way each of the specific actions of Holmes are depicted with accurate details, the way he treated the character as a mad, genius scientist having superior knowledge than anyone around him and of course unintentionally appearing condescending to everyone around (except Watson).

There is a lot of emphasis on the two characters and their methods and not the actual details of the methods of the villain, which was interesting.

Also, Brit humor, excellent slow-mo sequences, brilliant and curious camera work and amazing background score worked wonderfully.

Would love to see a sequel getting made.

I watched it one week back and loved the movie very much. Ritchie has reinvented Sherlock's character.

The film is just a warmup I guess for a full fledged franchisee. Just like Batman Begins where the movie ended with the hint that next movie will feature joker. This one also ends with a hint that the next movie will feature

Professor Moriarty :good:

. I am eagerly awaiting the next movie.

I'm not a Holmes nerd and had no clue about the importance of Moriarty until I referred Wikipedia after watching the movie.

Nonetheless, the ending scenes had me excited about the possibility of a sequel. Since Moriarty is himself a sort of an inventor I'm expecting more Victorian steampunk goodness + more Rachel McAdams.

And Jude Law is awesome.

Yup, Jude Law was great in the movie. I liked his character/performance more than RDJ.

dont diss GI Joe...

i just watched it again this afternoon :D

I watched it again (on blu-ray) on Sunday as well. Somehow I enjoyed it even more than the first time in theaters. It's almost like a live action cartoon. Regardless of the inconsistencies, stupidity, plot holes and cheesy dialog, I love it! The Paris chase is seriously awesome. Paramount should start making a sequel already.

Got it from Landmark alongwith ROTF and Star Trek. :D

These days I'm too lazy to post pics in the WYBTW thread...

BTW I just googled it and the G.I. Joe sequel is already in pre-production with a new team of writers. Storm Shadow isn't dead and will be back!

General movie rule: If a character falls down an abyss or into water, he/she is not dead and will come back.

Addendum: If you don't see a body, the character is not dead.

Corollary: If you do see a body, the character is probably still not dead. (This happened in a very recent movie.)
