I kept expecting the film to move towards a jaw dropping finale but it never comes. Afty, It's really not so much about the finale, as much as how they got there. I mean there's room for reasonable doubt.. he could've not done it. Secondly, it's actually more about how do you make an engaging film working with 12 characters and their quirks in a single room set(or two). The script is tight and it's beautiful how most of the time the characters feel and emote the same feelings the audience does. For eg when something appears long drawn and the viewer needs a smoke break(or maybe that's just me) Anyhoo, just think about it from a filmmaker's point of view (1957 or otherwise) It's ageless. Mithun da's acting in that film is so good as a narayal pani wala that no one ever may ever be able to do it better than him.
