achilles
Dude, no offense but ... Rock On - A marketing tool for Farhan Akhtar to prove everyone that he is a great actor. The music sucked, listen to bands like Colourblind, Pentagram etc which actually existed. Colourblind actually recorded an album with Sony which is available for free. Listen to the music and then listen Rock On --> http://www.massdeletion.com/ click on 'Music'. Oh, and they released a video starring the lovely Laila Rouass. Wake up Sid - Yeah, getting a job as an ace photographer, finding accomodation, living in a city like Mumbai with an entry level job is easy. Finding true love is the most important and difficult task. Dostana - Hay guys, gays are hilarious. :| Love Aaj Kal - Imitaz Ali (the director) is a moron. All his movies have terrible mushy stories for delusional people who want their lives to live out exactly like these movies. Omkara - Great movie, no sarcasm. I really liked it. 3 Idiots - I am Amir Khan, I am the ace, whatever I touch turns to gold, I will use terrible e-mail forwards as jokes in my move and still manage to rake in insane amounts of cash, I can play the role of a 20 yr old, I can even make my co-star R Madhavan look like a 20 year old, I will associate myself with Narmada Bachao Andolan and get all the attention and who is Medha Patkar why is she doing that hunger strike, look at me newspapers I'm an attention wh*re. 800 patents ... gimme a break. As much as that made me laugh, I enjoyed watching those movies. Everyone of them. Oh..and how did i forget khosla ka ghosla !!
sup bro?
Dude locust, this critical? All the above movies were great for a one time watch with your friends/families over some popcorn. U just go to the cinema and have a good time instead of being pseudo intellectuals trying to over-analyse the movie. Though yes i didnot like 3 Idiots out of the list. Dude, I'm not a cold man, I do enjoy movies the cries and the laughs and whatever they have to offer within the time the film is playing. Sometimes it's too atrocious that I have no option but walk out (Rock On, Dostana, My Name is Khan etc), other times there is a glimmer of hope you see in the vision of the director - through the camera that slightly restores my faith in Indian cinema. Once the film is over, I'm done with it ... I cannot let it treat me like an imbecile, I have to be contemptuous and critical. I don't want to burden myself with the manipulations, the cliches, the leitmotivs, the musical cues that film makers associate with each scene identifying what is it's emotional significance. Have you seen those parodies where people hold 'applause' or 'laugh' signs. It really feels like that to me. It's like I've no will of my own. I'm not submissive. My problem with filmmakers is they simply shoot a script. No thought goes into what the scene or a shot signifies. Why is a director called a director?? A 15 yr old can do the job of shooting a script. There is no sense of mise en scène, why is the frame the way it is absolutely nothing at all. Think of it this way, the camera is a pen yet every one who uses it has the same handwriting. Our cinema moves in trends. There was a trend of item numbers. Now you can shoot any movie in a small North Indian town with abusive language; put a couple of so called 'bold' scenes with fusion music and voila you have a hit movie. dante77
whoa! so all of a sudden 3 idiots become fail well, I loved it is all I know. I am suffering from the same thing which Farhan (madhavan) was suffering in that movie which was also the main theme of the movie. Just the course is different. Seriously guys it really feels bad when every single memer of your family member force you do the course you don't want to study. You feel alone . This could be the reason I liked this movie. My parents should watch this 3 idiots. and @amir comments - who says he choose only good movies? Gajhini was a big FAIL and we all agreed with that remember? shekdown
^ Man I hated how that motherf**king Jar Jar Binks was taking out the clones during the 1st episode. I mean, if they are clones of Jango Fett, who himself is a badass and can evenly match a bloody Jedi, then how in the name of motherf**king hell was he knocking them out by being nothing but a comic relief???? That was just plain stupid. I know the clones are genetically engineered to grow faster and stuff but still. The 2nd movie seemed to be some kind of cluster-rape. I didnt understand the whole clones part. Why were they suddenly making clones? Who controls them? Why did Yoda bring them? Why did they switch sides? Jar Jar Binks was such a useless charater, they literally thrusted him down people's throats in the first movie and realised he was pretty awful, he became this subdued idiot in the 2nd and 3rd ones. What?? Seriously?? I'm quite surprised since that was the only thing he excelled at. I never quite liked him as a director, Dev D blatantly rips off the mise en scène created by Christopher Doyle and Wong Kar-wai. Let's face it, the golden age of Indian Cinema is gone forever. People like Guru Dutt, Satyajit Ray, Buddhadeb Dasgupta among many others are forgotten and will never be remembered again. There is absolutely no originality, no metaphor. These films can be directed by a 15 yr old who has watched too many Hollywood films. There may be a gleam in the darkness but it's so dim no one is even gonna notice it. Your like my long lost brother, man. This is exactly what Im talking about. Indian cinema was at its peak, several years back. Its bloody mind-boggling to see how the standards have fallen in less than a century. Indian Cinema, today, is miles and years behind other African and Asian movies and the movie-makers. Its just so bloody poor and you can understand how global audiences would feel when crap like Lagaan is one of the nominees for Vernacular movies. While there are still a handful of movies that are excellent, they hardly get the light they deserve. Instead people enjoy watching the 'Blockbuster' movies. I simply fail to understand how My Name Is Khan has been lauded for being different and away from main-stream cinema. It is bloody mainstream and it is, without doubt, nothing sensational. Off the top of my head, some Indian movies I have sincerely enjoyed(in recent times - the 80s and 90s had some sublime stuff. Its just a bloody downward spiral with Indian movies, over the years) : i) Rang De Basanti - I have a few criticisms about the movie. But I havent really been pushed to the ends of my emotions like this movie did. ii) Aayuthai Ezhuthu(Tamil) - The tamil version of Yuva. Which was better acted, better directed, had better music and was a very very good movie. iii) Vettaiyadu Villaiyadu(Tamil) - A tamil suspense thriller, a bit psychopathic and bits of action. Very well acted and a rarity in Indian cinema these days. iv) Taare Zameen Par(Hindi) - Very different from mainstream movies and this one, actually struck an emotional chord with the audiences and had a very realistic setting to it. v) Black(hindi) - Quality movie theme and very well acted, but from about the middle it got a bit dry and dull. Nonetheless, a stellar effort. vi) Dil Chahtha Hai(Hindi) - Its one of those few brilliantly done movies. Proper movie to go with any set of audiences and enjoy it nonetheless. Mixture of everything done in the right quantities. vii) Panchathanthiram (Tamil) - Bloody laugh riot. The funniest movie of all time, OF ALL time. In all languages, whichever timespan we are looking at. Ive watched this movie over 20 times and Ive laughed at 85% of the jokes, every bloody time. I know whats coming, I know the lines, I know the emotions, the delivery, everything about it, yet it still makes me laugh.

I dont know if there is any remake of this or if this is a remake of anything. And its one of those movies which is extremely funny in Tamil, but when transalated, may not be to the same effect. Im pretty sure the DVDs have English. The backside of my DVD says English subtitles. No idea if they'll be as funny though. Ill see if I can find something more about the movie or similar movies in other languages which could help.

Tyler
Shrek Forever After - Some of the 3D stuff was nice and there were a couple of funny jokes here and there but overall the movie is worse than the second one but a little better than the third. It felt rushed and unnecessary. The series has lost it's charm. The first two were fun and kept the funny stuff coming but now the jokes have become old. Plus, this one has wayyyy too much sappy drama and romance than it needed. Watch it if you absolutely have nothing else to do (but in that case you could always stay home and play a game instead).
