Solitaire
^^and why is that? In my case, I'd like to listen to the dialogue, rather than some jerk commenting loudly or dancing in front of the screen or shining a little laser light onto it in the middle of the movie. I don't know, but here in Chennai (and I guess in every other city in India as well), this does happen. Could hardly hear the dialogues during SW:EP3 which I went for on the first day. Besides I hate crowds and parking woes - half the reason why I avoid theaters.

I watched The Departed in Chennai (at some PVR, I really don't know where) and the place got empty halfway through the movie. The ones left were very quite. Bird Bird Bird
This doesn't happen in lucknow. Well, not in multiplexes atleast You betcha bro. Some idiot will definitely start talking on the phone as if it's his bedroom. Worse, some assholes don't even know mobiles come with Silent/Vibrate profile. Their phones will just keep on ringing while they look at the screen, thinking whether to take the call or avoid it !!.. ALL the phones offer the option to mute the ringtone, but nopes, doing that is against their better judgement.. And how can I forget people who keep on shifting seats, blocking the screen, in order to find the best "view". By that time they are satisfied, half the movie is over. Also, people hardly come to watch hollywood movies here especially in english. There were only 10 people in the whole audi when I watched Shrek
Tyler
guys, suggest a good thriller (not heavy on graphics) to watch tonite? or a good sci-fi have surely seen most of the big name movies, so something out of the normal would be ideal Dark City

I hate it when people even take out their phones. The light is distracting.

This does not happen here in Delhi.... laser lights and dancing infront of the screen, LOL!! The dancing was minimal during SW for sure... but yeah that happens a lot on the first day for any Tamil flick. For f**k's sake they perform "Paal abhishekam" for star's cutouts and the screen itself on the first day for tamil movies. Crazy buggers For some Rajini film's release there were stupid fans eating Sand mixed with rice as a penance/sacrifice or whatever to ensure the film succeeded. Jobless bastards. Still they were whistling, hooting and cheering and shouting "Thalaiva" in support of Yoda each time he came on screen during Episode 3. This was in Sathyam, Elite seats on first day. Of course it was the Economy section that most of the hooting was coming from. Though like some people here said - the assholes with mobile phones that just can't be switched off, they irritate me the most. There was this policeman, who probably got a free ticket for the show, who sat a few seats away frequently attending phone calls and saying loudly "OK, Saar, definitely Saaar, oook saarr" for half the movie. Besides all this, there are these kids that cry throughout the film. Agony I tell you, that's what going to the theaters has become these days. An agonising and slow way to kill yourself. Aftrunner
I am with Gaurav. If there is a film I really wanna see I usually pick the most unlikely timing for a crowded theater. Afternoons on a weekday are a good bet. Then I have a friend who is a bit ornery at the best of times so he is a nice little cushion against assholes with no theater etiquette. Bird Bird Bird
I place my bet on night shows, those after 10 PM at least. That's when the jobless, disinterested, baby-pimping people don't come. Edited June 25, 2010 by F@tm@n

Rithvik and me usually hit the morning shows on Saturdays (so we can catch two movies in a row) when we have hols, but even those are full for recently released stuff. Thankfully, the Dark Knight and Star Trek shows we went for were decent. And Avatar's premiere (last movie I went to the theaters for) before the release date in 3D at INOX was pretty alright with no unruly behaviour either. I still haven't seen Iron Man 2, partly due to an acute lack of time and partly due to aforementioned reasons. I'd rather catch it when it releases on Blu Ray. Don't know about seeing Inception though, the next few months are just packed
