Hotel Chevalier was oh so good :catfight: I loved that little indie folk rockish whatever thing that played through the second half. And Jason Schwartzman is always a hoot. Any Rushmore fans around? Phantom Planet maybe?

@ MT/nosextillim18: Shyamalan peaked with Unbreakable. It was a damn shame that all the moronic junta wanted back then was for him to pull a sixth sense again. I can't talk up this movie enough and every self respecting comic book/superhero nerd needs to rent/buy it, period. The train station sequence gives me the willies every time I watch it.

That folksy tune is on the Darjeeling Limited OST.. I'm leeching that as we speak.

Hotel Chevalier works as a standalone short and it ties in well with Darjeeling Limited too... Natalie Portman is so gorgeous.

I missed Rushmore.. Have you watched Bottle Rocket? Owen Wilson's career best I'd say!

The Wilson brothers perform really well in Wes Anderson flicks.

@Tyler: Word. And Samuel L. Jackson just made the whole thing better times ten.

@Arun: How could I have forgotten Natalie Portman. Can someone really look that good? Loved her hair too :catfight:

Seen it, but I thought it was quite ropey to be honest. It just didn't resonate as much as Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums and The Life Aquatic did. Maybe it's the repeating himself bit you mentioned in your last post. Although Ropey by Wes Anderson standards is still a darn good film that shouldn't be passed on.

I also watched this other movie called Lars and the Real Girl.

It's about this lonely guy and his love for a erm doll. from realdolldotcom (Highly NSFW, visit only if you have 30min to spare)

Interesting premise but the movie tries real hard to be quirky and fails. Becomes very predictable and has a typical hollywood ending. Not worth the time or the download.

I'm waiting for a decent copy of Lars and the Real Girl to turn up. All thats out now is a screener which I don't want any part of. I'll still give it a try though, just so we can compare thoughts later on. It's Oscar season so expect a whole bunch of movies that the studios fund with the sole intention of bringing in the statuettes.

I don't like nag lines :)

Tell me about it.. I never settle for anything less than a dvdrip but the premise of Lars and all the critics fawning over it forced me to get the screener. Seriously though, the movie isn't worth it but I'll leave it to you to decide.

I'll think twice before I acquire it, I can promise you that much :)

Edit: Nice premise though, shame it turned out the way it did. Reminds me of Little Miss Sunshine. I can't stand that movie. Quirky for the sake of it? You bet!

all that Nietzsche name dropping for some indie cred.. not to forget, a gay character. and alan arkin had to get the Oscar for playing a foul mouthed grandpa? Sad. And don't even get me started on Babel...

Nietzsche dame dropping eh? It's a good thing I got that partial lobotomy done as soon as the credits rolled. I don't remember much, thank God.

Babel wasn't all that, yea. The trilogy was going great guns till then and I enjoyed both Amores Perros and 21 Grams. The film wasn't without merit though, misguided in places but nothing close to the barf bag advert that was LMS. While we're on topic, almost anything by the Mexican trifecta (Cuaron, Del Toro, Inarritu) is worth a watch.
