I wouldnt have minded them myself if they only subbed Watanabe but the whole film having subs is probably more distracting than missing one or two lines. And this wasn't like Batman Begins where that Ra's Al Ghul monologue turned out to be nice comic relief. @Afty, yeah like the "Come Again Pikey?" option on the Snatch DVD. But like many great movies it has to be watched again... and again. Besides, how many mainstream movies actually make you think these days? Seems like you cant make everyone happy with the subtitles. I wouldnt have minded them myself if they only subbed Watanabe but the whole film having subs is probably more distracting than missing one or two lines. I had the same feeling when the movie started. But frankly, it helped A LOT. I spoke to many of my friends who had watched it in other places and they didn't understand even the basics of the film. One guy asked me why the van was falling in slow motion I always use subs when watching on dvd as well.
