KWC
^^ LOL Friend of mine saw it (RE A) and he swears by the 3D too. Says its the best implementation yet. Maybe it was the theater/projection system in Fatmans case? Edit My friend also said you have to now buy your own 3D paper glasses at PVR. At 25 Rs a pop. what the *bleep* is that bullshit? They wanna charge me 300 bucks for the ticket and then rip me off for change inside? You can use that again i suppose, for some other movie Edited September 12, 2010 by choy
Nemo
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- @ fatman where did you see it ? going by your sony 3D experience, i suppose Big odeon right ? I too was there. first of all, its not motor storm apocalypse, it was motorstorm pacific rift that was playing I played some 10 mins and it was good and secondly, this is only my 2nd time watching a movie in 3D. the first time too i watched the movie (avatar) in the same theater last december, at that time, the 3D display sucked balls. yes there was the awe and of 3D for the first time, but the picture was blurry and dark.. like really really dark. compared to it RE Afterlife looked much better. I remember being very puzzled when everyone was going post avatar @ the 3D.. i ended up cursing Odeon. Maybe you saw it in a diff theater or maybe you havent seen avatar @ odeon to realize how much the theater workers have improved on their understanding and implementation of 3d (or maybe RE is just plain better made in 3d.. who knows). all i know is that RE looked a definite better than avatar. btw, Tyler too was off the same opinion that RE 3d >>> avatar 3d. so i suppose indian theaters have to do some serious answering. Bird Bird Bird
My bad !.. Yes it was MS:PR .. And yes, I went to Odeon too ! This was the 1st 3D 'movie' I have seen and for me it sucked donkey balls.. I have seen better 3D shows at Science centers than this !!.. It's a zombie movie FFS & they could have made it damn f**king scary with the right 3D implementation.. But NO, both me & yatin used to remove our glasses repeatedly during the movie just to find out that the scene was actually running in 2D .. The 3D effect just acted like an overlay.. Really doubt it it's 3D .. It never felt in-your-face 3D which is what 3D should be like !! Haven't seen Avatar in 3D but this was a real failure for me.. Might just see Step Up in 3D as another guy next to us told that the 3D effect is far superior in Step Up as compared to RE:AF !
Harsahil
3D 3D 3D 3D!!!!! Seriously... it's THAT good. Screw Avatar, this is the most kickass 3D experience I've ever had! You can tell that the movie was shot with 3D in mind. Say what you wanna say about Paul W S Anderson, he knows how to make a super slick action movie. The story isn't anything different from the previous flicks (but still better than I expected) and there are some things that are just plain cringeworthy... like how Alice and Claire manage to find make up and look hot while the entire world lies in ruins or like how automatic weapons never run out of ammo or need reloading. But then again if you're looking for logic this is the wrong movie. If you wanna watch some cool Matrix-inspired action scenes and hot girls kicking a*s, blood splattered on your 3D goggles, then it goesn't get any better than this. There were a lot of things lifted straight from the RE5 game and they worked quite well in the movie. Wentworth Miller was pretty good as Chris Redfield... too bad Chris is mostly a secondary character here. Even the guy who plays Wesker did a good job. And don't start walking out while the credits start to roll. There is a scene after the first section of credits featuring an important character. Special credit to the fitting soundtrack by Tomandandy. And they even used the A Perfect Circle song (from the trailer) during a key sequence. I had a lot of fun watching the movie and I'm probably gonna watch a couple of times more. PS: Opening credits scene reminded me of Ninja Blade... more than any Resident Evil game. Very well written. I absolutely loved this movie.. It was my first movie in 3D ( I didn't had a 3D theatre back in the place where I lived in India). It was hell of an experience. I didn't know 3D was so good and this particular movie was made keeping 3D in mind. All the stunts were awesome and there were nice pieces taken from RE5. Even though the game sucked, it's adaptation in movie was awesome.lol. Ironic! The axeman sequence was awesome. The story was pretty decent compared to previous installments. Moreover I think it was the best movie in the series visually especially because of 3D.. And Chris and Wesker both were awesome just as you said.. But I kinda disliked the cliffhanger and the abrupt ending. I expected something more from the final showdown. Well a funny thing happened when watching the show. The movie was stuck for a while due to some technical error. So they compensated everyone in theatre by giving them extra tickets to watch one movie FREE.lol! So I watched Inception the next day and it was one hell of a movie. I liked it even more than Resident Evil because that movie is a piece of art. Such a mind boggling story and great special effects! Had an awesome movie weekend at Cineplex! The next movie on my list is The Last Exorcism if possible..

ctrl_alt_del
I was quite surprised by how good Dabang turned out to be. Normally I stay away from Salman Khan flicks, especially those that come out from his home productions but this one really surprised me, and in a very pleasent way at that. I went in expecting a no-brainer, total Bollywood style movie and I got just that; no pretentious crap...the movie never attempts to cater to the international market. It knows its primary audience is out here and that is what it plays to. Surprisingly, even though the jokes at times can be crass and meant for the front-benchers, they still managed to tickle the funny bones of those in the premium seats as well. I am glad they did not choose to over-do the Bollywood cult movie references; one good Sholay joke was enough. Talking about Sholay, the lead heroine (Sonakshi Sinha?) with her scowl reminded me so much of Hema Malini in Sholay! Action was over-the-top and almost made me feel I was in a Telugu flick where such super-human feats are the norm. I am told it is a re-make of a Telugu flick and I suppose the Wanted hang-over is still there. Probably that is why they got Sonu Sood as a villain; he is a regular baddie now in Telugu cinema. A better actor would have worked out better for Dabaang. The only gripe that I had with the movie was that the editing could have been a bit more tighter. The scenes tend to jump around a bit and locations change at random. And oh, the subtitles! Not only do they draw attention away from the action on the screen, they were also giving away the punchlines even before Salman was done with the joke on-screen! Absolutely hated that. Dabaang and the character Chulbul Pandey have the potential for many more entertaining sequels, provided they are in more capable hands. If we have Golamaal 3, why not Dabaang 2, 3 and 4.
