Yea, I was amazed when I found out this was the cut version :O

Thank God the cannibalism was obvious enough.

Edit: And Choi Min-sik, WTF. What acting.. :O

God do i wish it was less obvious. :nerves:

Emotionally gruesome. But...it began to feel a little hollow towards the end, once the game begins to wind down. All that killing just to see

Lee Byung hun scream in the end. And beheading by proxy!

I think you were meant to feel that way. Its meant to feel utterly pointless :|

I also saw the highest grossing South Korean film of the year: The Man From Nowhere. An awful rip off of Kim Ji-woon's and Lee Byung-hun's A Bittersweet Life. We're way past the golden age of South Korean cinema. I Saw the Devil is an anomaly. You don't see as many classics as you used to any more.

Was actually planning on watching that.

Didn't know it would be a rip off of Bittersweet Life, which I loved to bits btw. Watched its hindi remake(awarapan) as well. The less said about that one, the better

Sunshine was one of the best movies i saw up until the ending which completely ruined it for me.

I think quite a few people felt that way, but I liked how it switched genres on you.

The DVD/bluray also has a great commentary track from a CERN scientist who goes into what's possible/probable and what isn't :D

I also liked The Beach and A Life Less Ordinary. Danny Boyle is awesome. I love the guy.

Watched this over the weekend. Stunning film, but then that's to be expected with the kind of pedigree involved:

Kim Ji-woon (Tale of Two Sisters, A Bittersweet Life)

Choi Min-sik (Oldboy)

Lee Byung-hun (A Bittersweet Life)

Best serial killer film I've seen since The Chaser. Everyone needs to watch this. Highly Recommended.

Have you seen the other two films in the vengeance trilogy? Both of them are equally good as oldboy.

I wouldn't call it a rip off, per se. But the whole revenge thing (there's that word again :|) was done much better in Kim Ji-woon's than here. This is just a pretty boy singer dressed up to look cool :|

A Bittersweet Life was a Buddhist parable, albeit with guns. Hands down one of the greatest films ever, and it had enough tributes in to Jean-Pierre Melville's Le Samourai, another classic.

You can't fake that kind of cool, which The Man from Nowhere is clearly trying to.

Yup.

I actually like Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance more than Oldboy.

I found Lady Vengeance to be a bit weak when compared to the other two. Probably due to the massive expectations I had from it.

Now, between Mr.Vengeance and Oldboy, you've got absolutely sublime direction in Mr. Vengeance and an amazing story in Oldboy. Can't really decide which one is better :|

The ending of Lady vengeance was amazing!

btw has anyone seen Thirst (Bakjwi)? Decent vampire film. Although not as good as Park chan- wook's previous films.

Mr. Vengeance had Song Kang-ho :majesty:

Love that guy. Has to be one of the most versatile actors ever!

Terrific performance by him in Mr.Vengeance. Especially the scene

where he watches his daughter's post mortem.

Btw, did you watch Memories of Murder?

But it did take its own sweet time getting there :P

I actually found Thirst to be really good. Kim Ok-bin's performance alone makes sure of that.
