Angad.
Hi, I need help in converting Nat Type 3 to Nat Type 2 for PS3. I have an MTNL connection and am using the modem (Model # UT-300R2U) provided by them. I just got this modem changed from them as the previous one went kaput. The previous modem used to show Nat Type 2. I have tried opening the ports as mentioned on various websites, but still it didnt work. I also disabled the firewall protection on the modem, still didnt work. Please someone help me !!

Yeah, its like I woke up opened my PS3, thought to do a connection check and it showed NAT type 2 :|

_KaRaN_
NAT 1 is open..
Noctis
PS3 Nat types 1/2/3 are not the same as open/moderate/closed in xbl. Nat 1 means you are connected directly to the internet, Nat 2 means you are connected to the internet through a router without any problems, Nat 3 means closed/moderate. Angy, do you have Upnp enabled? My is 2..dunno how to open it.? .i forwarded all PSN ports but still it shows Nat 2...However my Xbox live NAT is open... Nat 2 is open, it just means you are connected through a router.

Angad.
I had similar problem with both ps3 & 360 when i changed my router my nat2 became nat3 on ps3 & when i got 360 it showd connection as moderate used the same method on both to open them go to u'r router setting from the ip(usually 192.168.1.1) & try to give the ps3 a static name & ip,so that u'r router recognizes it on connection & also try putting it on the dmz mode it helped me with both ps3 n 360 sometimes the above router ip doesn't work,u need to go into the advanced settings of u'r router...for that search on google what will be the http link to go into the advanced settings of u'r specific router Hi ank...bro tried all that stuff!! Assigned a static ip to ps3, opened all ports on the router for this ip, assigned this ip to DMZ as well, disabled the firewall....Everything!! Still didnt work !! I guess il need to get the router changed again...now need to find out ways of spoling this router lol...so that i can get a replacement
Noctis
What DMZ does is to forward all the ports, so its not very useful if you already did that manually. Besides a home dmz is not exactly a safe method of forwarding ports. All you really have to do is to set up a static ip and forward the following ports. TCP: 80, 443, 5223 UDP: 5223, 3478, 3479, 3658 But if that didn't work I guess youll have to change your router. :/
