Right
Anddddd.....Fired! 2K Games does not endorse or condone the comments made by @TheRednerGroup and confirm they no longer represent our products. We maintain a mutually respectful relationship with the press and will continue to do so. We don't condone @TheRednerGroup's actions at all. TheRednerGroup might need services of another PR agency. They gotta try really harder than this. I have to apologize to the community. I acted out of pure emotion. I will be sending each of you a private apology.I need to state for the record that 2K had nothing to do with this. I will be calling each of you tomorrow to apologize. Again, I want everyone to know that I was acting on my own. 2K had nothing to do with this. I am so very sorry for what I said.
Karooo
Damage control. They will hire another PR agency which does the same thing.
Big Boss
Played the game for 15-20 minutes. The game is sorta okay till now, made me wanting to play more, but couldn't due to time constraint. The graphics though not great are much better than that streaming pile of poo known as Homefront. I haven't reached a part where we get guns, so cant comment on gun mechanics (only used devastator in opening scene, handling of which was similar to any rocket launcher in a shooter like serious sam or painkiller). There is lot of object interactivity, more than any recent FPS. You can do all sort of stuff ranging from peeing to weight lifting. Interacting with environment objects increases your Ego meter permanently. The game clearly states that it shouldn't be taken seriously at all. The messages in the loading screen range from informative to these: "If you are stuck somewhere, you can cheat by reading FAQs online" "If you are getting hit, try to dodge bullets" From what I have read, you will be able to shrink enemies, freeze them, and do other wierd stuff ALA DN3D. Till now, this game is shaping much better than that turd of a game called Homefront which got 6s and 7s and I uninstalled it after 15-20 minutes. Also, another crapfest called Fable 3 got more ratings than this. I think reviewers went it with too many expectations, maybe they were expecting a next Half Life or something. WhiteWolf
Duke Nukem Forever Crashes, Freezes, Graphics, Low FPS, Lag, and Performance Fix Duke Nukem Forever has finally been released, FINALLY. This means you can now play the game you first heard of in your childhood, atleast I did. But due to long painful delay, there may be possible scraps of old code that still needs cleaning up, resulting in you experiencing graphics and performance issues, in case you avoid the random crashes plaguing the Duke’s launch. You can resolve these issues by following the instructions in this guide. Note. Don’t forget to try the recommendations by the Gearbox Tech Support team in the first section of this guide. What You Need Reinstall your Microsoft C++ redistributable. You will need to install the C++ 2005, 2005 SP1, 2008, and 2008 SP1 versions to ensure compatibility. Install DirectX 9.0c Verify the game cache. Run the game with administrator privileges. Duke Nukem Forever Crashes, Freezes, Graphics, Low FPS, Lag Fix, Low Performance and Slow Loading Times 1# Duke Nukem Forever Crashes on Start Up If your game crashes on running after you messed up the game’s config files, this workaround may help. You need to delete DNF Config folder in Steam UserData C:\[steam Install Path]\userdata\10215801\ (10215801 could be a different number on your PC) and delete the Folder “57900″. 57900 is the DNF Game ID under Steam. 2# Duke Nukem Forever Textures Loading Problem Most of the people using ATI video cards may come across this issue in particular, just set your ‘SmoothVision HD Anti-Aliasing’ to Use Application Settings to resolve the issue. 3# Black Screen, Rendering Problems, Messed Up Graphics Some users may experience graphics issues such as a “hall of mirrors” effect, a black screen, or other rendering problems. First, please update to the latest video drivers from your manufacturer’s website. If you are using a NVIDIA video card, try the following: Close Duke Nukem Forever Open the NVIDIA Control Panel Under the ’3D Settings’ category, select ‘Manage 3D Settings’ from the menu bar on the left Select the ‘Global Settings’ tab in the right-hand pane Set ‘Anisotropic filtering’ to ‘Application-controlled’ Set ‘Antialiasing – Mode’ to ‘Application-controlled’ Set ‘Vertical Sync’ to ‘Use the 3D application setting’ Click ‘Apply’ Re-launch the game If the problem persists, close the game, then try resetting to default settings by clicking the ‘Restore’ button near the bottom-right of the ‘Manage 3D Settings’ window and click Apply. If you are using an ATI video card, please try the following: Close Duke Nukem Forever Open the ATI Catalyst Control Center Select ‘Gaming’ from the menu bar on the left Select ’3D Application Settings’ Under the ‘SMOOTHVISION HD:Anti-Aliasing’ section, make sure ‘Use application settings’ is CHECKED. Under the ‘SMOOTHVISION HD:Anisotropic Filtering’ section, make sure ‘Use application settings’ is CHECKED. Click ‘Apply’ Re-launch the game If the problem persists, close the game, then try resetting to default settings in the Catalyst Control Center and click ‘Apply’. If you still experience trouble: Close all other applications before launching the game, it may just be the case of application conflict. Verify your game data through Steam to ensure you do not have any corrupted files, or uninstall and reinstall the game. To verify your game data, open the Steam game library, right-click Duke Nukem Forever, select Properties, select the Local Files tab, then click Verify Integrity of Game Cache. Try uninstalling your graphics driver, then install a previous driver version from the manufacturer’s website. 4# Duke Nukem Forever Slow Loading Times, Low Performance Turn off V-sync and Set AA to medium/low, Post special effects and Film Grain off, and the game will run much smoother. 5# Duke Nukem Forever Low FPS Uninstall all your video card drivers and re-install them. Try the previous version of the drivers and keep trying till you find a suitable driver version which works fine with the game. It’s a hassle but something to consider. Refer to #4. 6# Crash at Start Up – ATI Issue Force Anisotropic Filtering on in Catalyst Control Panel to resolve these issues. Note For those of you, who can’t resolve the random crashes, it seems the crashes occur when you have settings set to ultra or high but the game runs fine at medium or low settings. Also, you can try disabling V-sync to resolve some of these issues. 7# Duke Nukem Forever Constant Freezes 8# Problem Activating DLC Instead of following the instructions on the DLC key card, activate it the same way as you do with Steam Games. 9# Can’t Change The Controls 10# Game Doesn’t Run When you try to run the game, splash screen pops up but the game doesn’t run. Try disabling the Anti-Aliasing. If that doesn’t help, try running the game Windowed. 11# Steam must be running to play this game Log-out of the Steam and then log back in to resolve this issue. 12# Weird Graphics – Bugs, Error Make sure you don’t have any anti aliasing settings forced on in Catalyst Control Center. Big Boss
I didn't face any crash or low fps. I am at Ultra settings and shadows to World with no AA and I get a vsynced 30 fps constant.
devil_angel
@Ambar Yeah, Gears is monotonous, Fable 3 is crap and we shall all say this after playing DNF for 15 minutes.
Big Boss
Where the F**K did I insist that play DNF for 15 minutes and pass judgement on Gears and Fable 3? And I didn't even mention Gears in this thread at all, still you brought it up. How? Following up my comments everywhere, are you? Nothing else left in your life to do? Being an IVG Author, try to use some commonsense next time. Keeping Yogi Bear's DP is in sync with your response though. GG by ignoring my first question and proving my point that you read my posts and quote them in other threads, like you have nothing else to do. Like your level of common sense to get personal over a silly sarcasm? GG again by agreeing that sarcasm was silly.
WhiteWolf
Duke Nukem Forever gets a rare 0/10 on Metacritic Hard to believe but since Metacritc.com uses its own scale to rate games to keep some uniformity with its amalgamated reviews it seems that 2K Games' recently released Duke Nukem Forever has suffered a killing blow by the site's system. Looking at the Xbox 360 reviews and based on some 43 reviews from around the web, Duke's average rating has hit an all time low of 49 out of a maximum 100. However, looking at the low scoring reviews (those that have brought the overall score down more dramatically than others) and you'll spot 1UP's review right at the bottom with a score of 0/10. If you head on over to the 1UP website you'll notice that this has been translated from an 'F'. That's certainly an F for fail according to the 1UP review. We generally take an interest in Metacritic reviews as our own appear there, but we're finding it hard to remember when we last saw a game of this calibre receive such a low score from a major publication. You can't get any lower than zero, and we wonder how the score is taken seriously or justified at Metacritic. Poor Duke, has really become a scapegoat for bad press and 1UP are right there digging in the knives. ********************* This is too much imo... ..is this game that bad ? Tyler
I'm pretty sure there are much worse games out there. What the hell were these people expecting from this anyway? Duke 3D was hardly a masterpiece itself.
Big Boss
I dont know, there are so many repetative games out there who get 8s and 9s, and even downright crappy ones get 6s and 7s. And this gets a 0? Even Darkest of Days, Painkiller Resurrection, Dreamkiller, Homefront etc got better scores.
