Yes, the LH90 series is full of local dimming sets.

Go for LG people, as long as you're not some nut intent on spending money purely on brand value to get a Sony set or are insistent on getting a Samsung to impress realtives who know next to nothing cept brand names

He is pointing all his fingers (and toes) towards you, cyclops :ack:

cycle ka tyre in danger of being punctured :ack: and Gaurav wants to share Nemo's custom title? :P

Ugggghhhh no... I'm not pointing anything at Cyclops... :P May I remind you that the "pointing other parts" idea was Sir Sam's idea :fear:

Any pointing to be done is at max done on the NSFW thread

LG wins providing better stuff for lesser cash whereas Sony will make u sell a kidney to buy an equivalent product. :fear:

Seriously...have u seen the picture quality of LG LCDs ???

last time i checked it was way sub-par :ack:

not trying to point anything in particular...but i always thought LG was the cheap alternative for people who dont want to spend much cash and still get a LCD.

Frankly speaking quality doesnt come cheap

I own an LG4280FR. LCD.

Checked with HD inputs on comparable Sony and Samsung sets several times over. NOT under showroom conditions, but in an exhibition where there was no way each manufacturer at every stall could maintain ideal lighting conditions.

And LG was the only one that had the most stuff (small things like DivX playback from the USB stick). The only thing that was lacking on my set was that it had 2 HDMI ports (which isn't too few for me, but then it might be for some).

I can live with that while certain people throw all their cash on a TV for brand name's sake alone. And it wasn't for lack of money that I went for the LG either :fear:

the primary purpose of a TV is not to play DivX from USB...it is to show good quality images at good refresh rate :ack:

And LG is nowhere near Sony/Samsung...even Panasonic in that matter

You conveniently disregard the major part of my post and go for the line that speaks about the extra stuff alone.

EDIT: Read it as "I already mentioned the PQ isn't all that different. Please don't expect me to throw too many tech terms and turn this into an LCD TV debate while we're on the What you Bought this week thread".

Very true, when i did some calibration on th TV in showroom(I actually made them juggle there setting and put all three together) the difference wasnt like a mile apart, i will say Samsun and LG looked almost similar(a lil edge(very lil) to samsung) and sony was a lil better, but that said the price difference was the deal breaker.

the fact that this has DIVX also playd in its favor.

@jigsaw: no dude MRP in sites is always more, also i got 50 Free dvd(God knows what kinds haven't got them yet) and free Airtel DTH.

I am not a person who forces his point on others...i just said what i think is true...to name 1 important fact - LG doesnt produce black as dark as the others...nowhere near...there are many other known factors...if you do an in-depth research u'll know...end of story.

A shortcoming which has been minimised by LG in the later half of this year :ack: , and which is already minimal as long as you care to calibrate the set

I did. Reviews. Plenty of them. Everything from CNET to HDTVtest to AVSForums to Tech2 to Techenclave to going to the showrooms myself. You'll also know Sony used several Samsung panels and there are several lower cost manufacturers using Sony chips in their panels. Which obviously means Sony is making you pay a pretty penny just as a brand premium :fear:

And for the record, several reviews mention problems about Sony's black levels too unless you go for the top-tier models. So no one's immune.

I am not a hater. I have a toshiba LCD, that does nt make it the best out there. What I am stating is pure fact. Like it or leave it, upto you "recent lg buyer".

Hahaha, recent... yeah right.. I've had it for quite a while. Fact? From whom, a self styled "reviewer" who says on some site that Samsungs are better than LGs outright? The PQ varies from model to model and that's the FACT. As I said, to each his own.

@lastAvenger - you sir are a voice of reason. So that we may all get back on track, I shall post some lame thing I got (please do not laugh) :fear:

Yes, it's a compliment from a medical company, so damages to me = Rs 0/- . It's a Chinese bluetooth headset that supports Stereo Bluetooth (A2DP) and comes with a pair of headphones to hook up to the headset inside too. My last one (which I bought from Thailand's Powerbuy) worked just fine until a friend of mine lost it :ack: Actual cost is Rs 700-800 (converting directly from USD).
