Why do we preorder in India?

IVG-Preorders were exactly the same as deals by prashant/others here and even they used to be shipped on day 1 and considering all the effort organizers had to put in, in the end , every1 was still cursing for not getting the games day 1 ....

the whole mess there was milestone, used to make more money on direct IVG pre-orders and still couldn't ship games a couple of day earlier

  •
  • maybe we can sort things out here onwards.keep clear rules and notifications.
  • Sam cant promise the day 1 delivery.its upto the distis.but the offers were really good imo.
  • maybe some other senior members living in mumbai can help him out.this can be a group effort by IVG.we can really give a re-make to Indian pre-orders.
  • hasnt IVG brought phenominal change in Indian gaming scene, spread awareness, helped members till now?if we have taken it upon us to really re-vamp the gaming scene then maybe we really can bring about a change in pre-ordering too.
  • its easier said than done offcourse.and this cant be taken up by everyone.we need volunteers and dedications.alternative chances would also be good, according to the convinient months for the members.
  • who knows, maybe we can get a day 1 delivery in the near future due to the combined efforts of IVGians.

cheers.

I think for once, lets do something about this that forces the system to give us what we deserve !

Let us all stop pre-ordering unless we have similar commitments like that quoted above !

You won't get that kind of commitment, because things work differently in India. You can't expect the same service in India that is offered in the West. There are many reasons for that, which I won't get into.

They should ship 1 day before the release date but its been abused by some vendors I guess.

True. I think there are too many vendors in India, who, if given stock beforehand, will start selling before release date, which is not allowed.

I think one reason why people preorder is its part of the game's pre-release excitement. Secondly, preorders are simply a means to buy. You can either buy once it releases, or if you're sure that its a game you really want, you buy it beforehand via a preorder. There's no rule that says that preorders must be delivered on release date, neither is there a rule that says that preorders entitle you to a freebie or a discount.

I think just as valid a question is why are people so desperate to have a game on day one? It's childish, IMO. How does the fact that someone else is playing the game before you affect your life?

Rules cant stop the whining and nagging

+1 to both.

Hear Hear!

It's just a game.

If I've ever taken part in a preorder - just 2, COD MW2 and GOW3 - it's only cos I would have bought the game anyway, and the convenience of having it delivered straight to me. I wouldn't really bother if it took me 3-4 days more to get the game.

Most of us are more concerned abut freebies, and we call us pro games ? we need a dose of viagra :harhar:

I'm not a pro gamer, but i've my passion on few games which I would like to get on day 1 of release, if that makes me a child, I love being one after ages ! :scarerun:

I think the problem is with us, we demand less, we get less :scratchchin:

2-3 day delay is not a problem for most , the frustration starts to creep in when the delay goes to a week or more , and many people start posting spoiler here either by getting the game early somehow or pirating the game.

HundredPercentSahi. +1 Izzat.

people need to realize that things work differently in India....and it is not only the case with games but with everyday things in life...things move slowly here...a little improvement has been seen here but that is all to it...We also have to see the distribution/customs channel here...its still lacking in many places from being understaffed to no modernisation.

also it is kinda of selfish of one to make other jealous or for whatever reason try to get game before anyone else.

with time and more competition i am sure thing will improve ...we are much better now then what we use to be.

Here, we preorder, pay and then pray. Take the move controller example, we preorder, pay, and pray, dates after dates, but still no site of delivery. Chalo, 2-3 days delay as mentioned acceptable, but yaha toh we are not even securing our stuff on release, which somehow keeps postponing. :samui:

PS move stuff shortage is world wide i believe ....I read it somewhere IIRC. :scratchchin:

Bah, all you people asking for day 1 delivery. I can understand wanting freebies for paying for a pre-order. But will you really die if you don't get that game that very day? Seriously.... you gotta have something better to do unless you're some kinda Fatal1ty Wendel who's work is to play games or a reviewer for a magazine.

IF I've ever been anxious about a preorder, it's only AFTER the game has come to the distributor's hands. I will readily wait for 3-4 days before asking them why I haven't got it yet. That is only because of the kinda concern I'd have with ANY product - be it a game or a tee shirt or a USB drive - that I've ordered not being delivered on time. Cos you've already paid for it. Not because I badly want to play it before my the crazy neighbour kid who wastes all his time gaming :P

Avoid planning your weekend (especially when it's a Friday or Thursday release) around gaming and you'll essentially find your BP going down even when you don't get it on time.

If spoilers are what you're worrying about, just avoid the f**king thread till you have the game. It's not like somebody asked you to go there and torture yourself (if you can even construe this as "torture" that is). Besides, the banhammer always awaits those who'd spoil the fun for the rest.

It is, but ppl who pre-ordered abroad, got it in their hands. After serving all preorders it was still in stock on shopto for few days, now it is out of stock.

Preordering is commitment from the buyer as he pays in advance, and the seller to secure a copy on release.

Did the retailer you preordered from have stock and still did not ship your order? As you said, the commitment is to deliver the product once its released. The Move standalone controller hasn't yet released in India.

That makes you a good buyers, not a good gamer, I as a fan would die to get it on day 1, and I'm sure there are other here who share the same passion and understand what we deserve. Again, it is merely different views, while some gamers here would pay extra to get the goodies, artbooks, miniatures etc, and some who does not care what comes with the game but wants to play it first hand ! Now you cant blame me for my preference would you as I respect you for yours !

Dont we have movie goers here who would like to catch up a fav release on the 1st day itself ?? why cant it be for a game ?

I only pre-order stuff if there's no chance of that item being available locally. Otherwise I prefer going to the store and getting it off the shelf. Local pre-orders have always disappointed me. The item usually arrives late despite the promises made by the seller.

And yes, "day one" is important for me. I'm a very impatient person.

The main reason we pre order is we feel safe that we get the game within 2-3 days which in case of buying from shops is quite risky and which is something we cant be assured of.. so people for buying a game which is much anticipated for them..they pre order it which will not only get you some great freebies or tee shirts which the in shop buyers can't even dream of!!

The main reason i pre order is i used to live in kerala but there shops wont get games even after 2 weeks so this is the best choice and now i am chennai so GG will do home delivery on the same day for chennaites..

There is completely NO Point in blaming vendors for not getting games at time, for not use high class couriers those who do so are completely RETARDED because AFAIK all these vendors give you 10% off in most of the games which will reduce the profit they get from the game into half and then it get reduced again while they give freebies which makes them with 1/4th of the profit they get in Landmark..So think about it..

What you are asking is to cancel their profit completely and give good things to Customers which is so RETARDED!!
