HundredProofSam
Dont we have movie goers here who would like to catch up a fav release on the 1st day itself ?? why cant it be for a game ? There are millions of movie goers in India. Not even a lakh PS3 owners. This discussion isn't going anywhere. peace
Cash
The main reason we pre order is we feel safe that we get the game within 2-3 days which in case of buying from shops is quite risky and which is something we cant be assured of.. so people for buying a game which is much anticipated for them..they pre order it which will not only get you some great freebies or tee shirts which the in shop buyers can't even dream of!! The main reason i pre order is i used to live in kerala but there shops wont get games even after 2 weeks so this is the best choice and now i am chennai so GG will do home delivery on the same day for chennaites.. There is completely NO Point in blaming vendors for not getting games at time, for not use high class couriers those who do so are completely RETARDED because AFAIK all these vendors give you 10% off in most of the games which will reduce the profit they get from the game into half and then it get reduced again while they give freebies which makes them with 1/4th of the profit they get in Landmark..So think about it.. What you are asking is to cancel their profit completely and give good things to Customers which is so RETARDED!! Quoted as all my writing went into last page last post. Solitaire
Dont we have movie goers here who would like to catch up a fav release on the 1st day itself ?? why cant it be for a game ? I agree with your views too, but then I don't put stock in watching a movie on the very first day itself either. I guess different people want different things. Yeah, I'm just a casual gamer, not a die-hard one.
dullu
I do agree that not getting a game day one has not killed someone....I also agree that pre-order make sense only if the item is not available locally... there is some charm in going to the local store and getting it.... However, how does it make a buyer bad if he asks for something day 1? I too, am slightly impatient with things, and want games i have waited for years on first day. it could also be because i have planned to bunk school/college/office (whatever your case maybe) and spend a day with the game/accessory/controller. CarbonCore
I'm one fat lazy beech... So for me home delivery is better than traveling for an hour to a place to pick up the game which may or may not be in stock This. Despite having 3 major gaming outlets within 15-20 min driving distance from my place, I pre-order most of my games from Pune
Solitaire
Quoted as all my writing went into last page last post. There there... Yeah, with games, I'm sure they're not gonna bother with Day 1 delivery with the number of hardcore gamers in our country being minuscule compared to movie goers of all age groups. Cash
The main reason for pre orders not getting on day 1 are 2 1) The couriers in india are not so high standard as those in other countries and in other countries one retailer will have different outlets spreaded out through out the country which will make them easy enough to give it on day1 2) The game providers in india still dont feel safe enough even to old retailers to give them games 1 day before because of insecurity and the increasing piracy in INDIA! So no point in blaming providers or retailers so if you want to pre order or buy it from shops..
praveer
2) The game providers in india still dont feel safe enough even to old retailers to give them games 1 day before because of insecurity and the increasing piracy in INDIA! I don't think piracy is the here, 1 day early or the very day...the piracy level & game sales are gonna be unaffected. However, distributors selling the game before release date is a problem. But one would think that they can easily catch the guy selling games early.....considering its India where the gaming market is still tiny & vendors are a few. Cash
Yea exactly the normal games wont be a problem but when it comes to big title !! The evil inside a man starts working.. They can easily sell game for 200-300rs extra if you want a day early! not everyone is good after all!
Right
I think distris just don't give a f**k. If the online retailers were able to get pre-orders for 10-20k copies, like in the west, distris will consider releasing the stock to them a day or two early. For 50-100 copies, distris wouldn't like to piss off the retailers. Adding to that, almost all of of the online retailers have their retail shops, which means distris will even risk games breaking the street dates. For example, Game, which has their online store and physical franchise stores. Since they know the biz well, they keep both of the arms separate. Online store ships the game early to meet release date and the franchise stores start selling the copies only from the release date. I do not expect this discipline maintained here. Nemo
I only pre-order stuff if there's no chance of that item being available locally. Otherwise I prefer going to the store and getting it off the shelf. Local pre-orders have always disappointed me. The item usually arrives late despite the promises made by the seller. And yes, "day one" is important for me. I'm a very impatient person. all of us dont have a friendly neighborhood intencity store local shops in delhi are barbaad. only palika is there but you gotta know people and specific shops there. If i am going physically to get a game i want to have a big game store with lot of options. The situation is sad in india :|

dabba
I think just as valid a question is why are people so desperate to have a game on day one? It's childish, IMO. How does the fact that someone else is playing the game before you affect your life? there are valid reasons for wanting a game on day 1.... - mp gaming for shooters need u to rank up by playing more... giving u better weapons n loadouts... this gives u an advantage over the latecomers to the game - similar story for fifa BAP mode... ur pro ranks up n is stronger against others - SP games u dont want to come across spoilers from others posted accidentally or on purpose - some SP campaigns are good enough that u will have been anticipating the game n eagerly awaiting it's release for months/years for me the MP matters to a certain extent... based on that i decide to pre-order or just get it locally, like i did with fifa
