Nikushimi
I echo most of what's already been said. 1080p wont make much of a difference for a 32 incher. If you have the monies go for a bigger screen, bigger is always better. Also, make sure the tv has loads of connectivity options. You may want to connect your PS3, Xbox, PC and your digital STB to your tv without having to use splitters and converters. Samsung and Sony have the best range of tv's. I'd recommend a Samsung 5 series model or a Sony EX model.

TheHitman
Samsung is way better than Sony IMO Care to elaborate on that please? Generic statements like PS3 is better than Xbox won't help. Is it better in terms of picture quality, sound, or VFM? From what i've heard and seen the Sony is better when it comes to sound when compared to the Samsung. The PQ is almost the same in both the brands as the panel is manufactured in the same factory. Overall Samsung may win the VFM factor because of it's lower pricing (when compared to Sony).
CarbonCore
I don't think any major manufacturer sells non-1080p 32' tvs anymore, so whether or not you need 1080p is irrelevant. If you have a budget of 40k I'd suggest getting a tv for 30-32k and then spend the rest on a decent 5.1 HT setup. You can get good ones from Samsung/LG for 8-10k. Don't play games on TV speakers, its a total waste.

in-fi-ni-ty
diwali is coming . i m sure u'll get loads of combo offers in vijay sales or croma or even in local stores. one thing i hate about big retail chains is that they claim discount on MRP rather than market price but i m sure u'll get sweet deals . u can always bargain in the end

The Alchemist
I read that Plasma TV's would consume more power compared to LCD's, also I am bound by the budget b'cos I willl be buying 5 sets for my gaming center. I would also prefer buying through an organised retailer, for the ease of warranty/maintenance... After carefully reading through all the posts, I have decided to look at the foll 2 models Samsung: http://www.samsung.com/in/consumer/tv-audio-video/television/lcd-tv/LA32C550J1RLXL/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&returnurl= Panasonic: http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/panasonic-tx-l32s10-tx-l32s10b-20090630156.htm Thanks a lot for the suggestions.... ★ Kani ★
I recently bought a 42" LG LCD TV for the purpose of gaming only.. It is full 1080p and 150hz. All the samsung below series 6 are 50hz one.. Stay away from those if you wanna enjoy the money worth.. Stay away from Sony they are overprized.. Samsung has better range than them.. Also check for the number of HDMI ports available.. Don't settle for anything lesser than 3! Samsung also has allshare meaning you can stream video directly to tv but that i not much of an advantage here because PS3 can do it by itself.. LG 42" LCD Tv costed me 63k.. and boy game looks awesome on it.. I am not actually impressed from the sound of the tv I bought.. but we can't expect better sound from lcd tv's anways.. All the best.. Harish Sangwan
How many Mhz does Sony NX500 and EX400 produce? Motion Plus is what I am talking about.
Jigsaw
^^ harish... i think the NX500 is definately not 100Mhz.. less than that for sure.
Harish Sangwan
^^ In that case, why is it that most members are all praise for the NX series? Is it coz of the Monolithic design? Coz Samsung series 6 have 100Mhz Motion plus and also on par when it comes to features and input/output ports. I am not an expert when it comes to TVs but would want someone to help me understand major differences between the screens.
Jigsaw
^^ yeah the monolithic design looks saxy... my dad was like when i got this in my room... gotta get one bigger for the living room next year... and it will again be monolithic
Harish Sangwan
looks like I will have to check it out in person. I saw the EX400 in the store and it was a turn off, specially when you put it up against a Samsung.
Death Stryke
Ah, deciding a TV is so confusing. Although my untrained n00b eyes could not make out a difference between a 100hz and 50hz set. I am pretty happy with 50hz. Besides, our cable transmission is still at 50hz afaik. And 100 hz is not optimal for blu ray content as well as blu ray content is filmed at 24p. For PAL sets, ideally 600 hz would be perfect for blu ray content as 600 iz the lcm of 24 and 25. And only plasma sets can achieve 600 hz till date
