Is my PSP bricked?

I have a slim PSP bought from US in 2007. It was on CFW (Gen 5.50 D2) and working perfectly fine until now. One day I downloaded God of War: Ghost of Sparta demo from PSN but couldn't play it on my PSP. After that I just switched off my PSP and kept it aside and now yesterday when I switched it on after about 2 weeks it won't boot up. The green light stays on but there is no display or sound. Tried force shutdown by removing the battery and when I insert the battery, the same green light is on again without display or sound. Removed the memory stick too but it didn't help either. Has anyone faced this issue before? Is there still a way to salvage my PSP or is it doomed forever? And all this sh*t had to happen on the eve of release of God of War: Ghost of Sparta. Thanks!!!

Send it to l33t-wizard (Jishnu) - he stays near me (Gurgaon) and fixed my bricked PSP. Worth a shot, he's a good guy.

Sending it from Canada would cost him more than the cost of a new PSP...

Try going to recovery console and reset the PSP , might fix the issue.

How will he get into recovery mode if the display isn't working..

If you don't mind opening your PSP, you might want to check if the display connector has become loose or something. You'll find a lot of videos on youtube which will guide you on how to open your PSP...

You can also try switching on your PSP without the battery i.e. connect it directly to the socket using your charger...

Heh ! Bricked my PSP yesterday

Anyways, if it's a 1k/2k (but non 88 v 03), you can use the pandora-magic memory stick method to get into CFW again. You will need another 1k/2k non 88.03 model for the method. Google around or go to QJ.net forums. There are umpteen people willing to lend a helping hand for CFW !

If you only get the green power light and no audio or display then its probably a brick.

Here's something you can try

Keep "R" shoulder button pressed and slide the power switch. You should get the recovery menu. Not sure of the next step as I don't have my psp with me. Of course if you get the recovery menu just google the rest as it is possible to recover.

If the recovery menu does not work then get hold of a psp with custom firmware installed and create a magic memory stick and pandora. Follow this link to create a Pandora battery and this link to create the magic memory stick.

Hope it helps. Also do some more research and use common sense. Google is your friend! thumbsup.gif

As it is on 5.50 Gen-D i believe the PSP has the earlier Pandora friendly motherboard. So all in all you can recover the PSP without any problems.

Try entering the recovery menu. To this remove the battery and reinsert it. Make sure you are plugged in with the power adapter. Hold right trigger and power-on the PSP. This should take you to the recovery mode and make your battery a pandorra battery. And using rileysnotz link make a magic memory stick using your memory card.

The rest is easy ;)

If you can't enter the recovery mode then you have a complete brick in which case you can order a cheap pre-made pandorra battery of the net or use a friend's PSP-1000 or PSP-2000 with 5.50 Gen-D to make one using the recovery menu as explained above.

If everything fails, send it to me and i will get it up and running in no time :)

If it's AFTER you repaired your PSP, then just de-pandorize the battery & it will work ! :P
