I am gonna sue them if VRR doesn't come to x90H. Or make them replace mine with J series. Won't go down well.

X90H isn't getting VRR anymore. Its confirmed. Get it exchanged right away.

Did Sony make an official comment? Because some reviewers asked Sony and they think they only removed it to sell 2021 sets.

But what to get it replaced with? 2021 tvs are too far.

Bit of a noob here. What are the implications of this for existing x90h owners? I don't have this TV but was almost going to bite back in Oct. Does this mean they no longer get to enjoy 120hz natively or games that have unlocked fps but not built for 120fps simply stay at 60?

VRR means Variable Refresh Rate. FPS of games on consoles are currently hardlocked,  either 30 fps or 60 fps. But their architecture is becoming closer to that of PC so devs might start uncapping fps for the games where the absence of VRR might cause issues like rubber-banding effect, stuttering etc. Absence of VRR is a big no for PC players using this TV. I doubt most games will be able to maintain stable 120 fps. So yeah it may cause issues.

Here's a thing though, Samsung has VRR support in their TVs but whenever its turned on people have reported that blacks get crushed and contrast goes off the scale hence most of them keep it off.

I was going to buy this TV as well but held off.

Thanks. Just for my understanding IIRC Digital Foundry found BL3 runs at 100-110fps on the SX. For someone with this particular tv, how does that interpret? Do they remain stuck at 60fps as the baseline?

Here's an example of VRR on and off. You'll probably get a better idea.

I have seen this but some reviewers said that they asked Sony to comment and Sony said it will come. This might be to encourage 2021 set sales.

I think we gotta wait till Vincent makes a comment. The online chat guy said that I will get the update and in case Sony doesn't release it, I can shoot a mail for this issue. I sent them a mail anyway, just to put it in their inbox.

120 Hz works but VRR support which was going to come via an OTA update has been canned as of now.

It's a pretty big miss if you ask me since VRR is pretty much essential for 120 fps since no game can actually hold that fps a whole lot.

Me toh sue kardunga, apna lawyer bhai kab kaam ayega.

LG made the right call by being an early adopter. They've been shipping with 2.1 since the time it came out and as a result the 2020 lineup has pretty much flawless HDMI 2.1 support. Atm LG is the only brand with next gen ready TVs.

Yes a part of me wants to fall for the whole Bravia marketing hype. But the brain knows LG it is. If nothing at least for their super prompt support if anything goes wrong.

That and LG WebOS is miles ahead of Android TV.

Also, OLED at FALD pricing :wOOtjumpy:

I don't know about that. I personally prefer Android and in the 2020 series, it is quite snappy plus Google TV incoming.

I would honestly buy LG if it goes android.

Anyway, I do have a plan to buy OLED or MicroLED in 2022, so will decide then between LG and Sony offerings.

Unlikely. Their webos is very mature at this point and has support for all major apps

I have tried both, so a personal preference. How is app support and update scenario with LG? My 4yr old x900e still gets app updates via app store.

Been using a C9 for the past 6 months and it does get updates regularly. Other folks with older models can probably answer better.
