Your car costs 1l?

Might have purchased a used car

Got it. Doesn't make much sense to compare costs of a new product with high end technology and a used car though

Had bought a new Tata Nano, little more than 1L but still probably cheaper than the LG CX.

Anyways the question was any chance it will become affordable. Even super budget phones have oled screens these days so I am kind of hoping it translates to cheaper TVs soon.

The yield for large panels is not very high, translating into higher costs. Also, TV manufacturers tend to preserve their highest end processers and other stuff for OLED TVs, further driving up the cost.

So costs will not come down any time soon. You can however, try your luck at finding a used C8, which would be cheaper.

When do you guys think OLED tvs will become affordable? Like spending 1L on a TV is insane when my car costs as much. Given the technology advancements would OLED tvs enter the budget segment in under 60k, 50k in the coming years?

OLED prices have been on a downward trend over the past few years. This is primarily why more people are buying them.

That said, they’re pretty much on par with Sony and Samsung’s best LCD TVs now ( @Mr. Comingle’s comment above ) which likely means those price drops will start to slow down. This is a great time to get in on OLEDs in general.

You might also want to look up LG’s A1 budget OLED line. It won’t come with all the fancy hdmi 2.1 features, but you’ll get the same great picture quality.

Would not prefer buying it used given the fact that we use a TV for a decade but I do understand the yield problem that you mentioned.
Would not recommend get a used old gen OLED. Big risk of burn in.
Besides, LG OLEDs really aren't that expensive when you consider what half decent LCD TVs sell for. Obviously, you can't compare flagship TV with China maal. Its like comparing redmi with S21 ultra.

While it’s true that you can’t measure Redmi with S21 Ultra, you can measure Oneplus pro, mi ultra etc which offer all the same features except maybe the camera at a fraction of the cost. A equivalent competitor in the OLED TV space would certainly drive the competition down.

Thanks, will check out the A line but I don’t think that will still fit in my budget given I have a hard limit of max 60-65k for the tv. Also another issue is that these tv do not come in smaller sizes which is a huge problem for people staying in small flats like me. 55inch is the smallest size that OLED comes in if I am correct and my room won’t be able to fit that.

LG CX 48inch is now available in LG stores, atleast in Delhi NCR. But it is priced almost similar to 55inch when I last checked its available for 1.15 lakhs after all discounts and cashbacks. I don't think the price will go down any further for the next 4-5 months by that time new models will arrive then you can try your luck with the cx but it will never go below 90k-100k mark.

Poor person here.

What the minimum I need to spend to get a decent 4K TV for PS5/XSX? I don't care about fancy features like HDMI 2.1, VRR. HDR would be nice though, but a good HDR implementation is expensive as far as I know. I just want an upgrade over my 1080p Samsung display.

A quick look on FK/Amazon got me something like this: https://www.amazon.in/AmazonBasics-127cm-inch-Ultra-Smart/dp/B087JWLZ2K/ref=sr_1_1?adgrpid=63588930204&dchild=1&ext_vrnc=hi&gclid=CjwKCAjwpKCDBhBPEiwAFgBzj4R3jZZnhVDBi0EV868kPsUtFeyFkGUX14C8nzELhgK0jLjVlUG0shoCfHwQAvD_BwE&hvadid=397752873828&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=1007761&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=4137384664198698459&hvtargid=kwd-299807115985&hydadcr=18851_1970931&keywords=amazon%2B4k%2Btv&qid=1617447430&sr=8-1&th=1

Aise hi hota hai. Even I sgarted with 55k budget. But I gave options in all segments, right? 50k - Toshiba, 70k - Frame.

Uske upar doesn't make sense to spend for substandard tech like Sony X90h. If you're spending that much, might as well get the real deal OLED.

Han x90h budget main to oled is much better

The answer we were waiting for.

Anyway, what is your budget? How much can you stretch? I heard The Frame this year will be slimmer! So you can get that if you want. If not that, I would recommend to get that 55 inch LG/SAMSUNG model. Both are around 50k range. Forgot the exact model number though.

Too costly for my blood.

So I need to dish out at least ~50K for a decent 4K experience. What about those Mi 4k TV?  Sorry for the dumb question, but what exactly makes a, say 30K Mi4k TV worse than 50K LG/Samsung TV?

I would stay away from MI. They ship out VA panel or IPS panel depending upon lottery. You don't know what you would end up getting.

In my opinion, you should go to a store like Croma / Reliance Digital, etc. and take a look at the stuff they have there. There is nothing more accurate than seeing something with your own eyes. You can then buy it online or negotiate with the store

Even if you don't find any difference I picture quality, you need to be better off with reputed brand. See that video on YouTube on how they make budget brand TVs. There is a high chance you might get a faulty piece.

Also, they ship with Android and their OS is not optimized at all. They tend to become slow and clunky.

Frame 2020 is still a great option.

The 2021 facelift isn’t getting any significant updates. The slim design looks worse tbh.

One good thing about the 2020 frame is that its HDR performance is pretty good.
Rtings.com did an updated test in game mode and it can go up to 600 nits.
