The TV Decision Making Thread

I did the first round of market scoping for buying the oled tv, here is what I learned.

No offline store has any model of CX or BX available at any size, all of them are pushing for C1.

Croma:

C1 55: 1.38 with all offers, did not want to bargain at all.

Reliance Digital

C1 55: 1.5 lol, he said absolutely no chance to reduce from 1.5, I said bye bye then.

Vijay Sales:

C1 55: Bargained a lot and finally he said 1.3 with all the offers. I said i am not buying anything above 1.2. He said absolutely no chance, even if I come on Dussehra or Diwali he will offer me the same rate. He also said he does not have the margins like last year that he had on CX. Not sure how much i will believe that.

If you guys get any update on the prices please do post here.

Are they giving you anything free in that price? Speakers, soundbars etc

Margins could be lower due to increased shipping costs

Was in market for a TV some time back. C155 prices definitely go a bit lower than 1.3 at around 1.25 mark in DEL along with bank offers (Not counting EMI realted discount in this.)

Wait till Diwali. Go on or just a day before Diwali. They'll reduce. Croma is the shittiest of the bunch IMO when it comes to price.

RD and VS are accomodating.

True that, they don't budge on price at all. I have had the best experience with VS in terms of prices usually though RD offers good prices as well is what I have heard.

I will wait try again in Dussehra and then straight on a day before Diwali like you mentioned. Have absolutely no rush to buy it, if I don't get a good deal I am happy to continue using my old TV.

The price i am staying firm is 1.2 without any emi discount. Not going to spend a rupee more than 1.2. That's a fair price right?

Try the normal stores as well, LG shoppe etc. They normally have better prices, though after sales customer service of Croma is unmatched. I have had a really pleasant after sales experience with them. /touchwood

Noted, no harm in trying out LG store as well. Though i am guessing they won't bargain right? Or can you bargain at LG stores as well? Usually brand stores in my humble experience have always been more expensive.

You can bargain. But you need to be sure of the cheapest price you are getting.

The LG Shoppe I went to was good at following up, but didn't offer much discount.

I wouldn't be firm at 1.2, since this year has been pretty hard for most firms. If you get it at 1.25-1.3 too, I guess that's fine. Though the shops will also be willing to sell as much during Diwali as possible.

I mentioned it long ago that the margins are just not the same this year. People here just didn't want to accept.

1.2L looks to be quite difficult this year, 1.25L-1.3L looks to be the range.

I know.. and we have people like @Assassins Creed bagging a CX65 at 1.53 last year.... I'll be in the market for the CX/C1 65 soon once our home is ready. The 2.2+ price on them right now is just not palatable... Hoping they come down a bit by Q1 2022

Just my luck i guess the only year I have the saving to afford it gets even more expensive.

Guess if that Dussehra/Diwali day thing does not work out I would probably wait for next year then.

I don't think these sell in the second hand market either right? Atleast I could not find any listings.

1.33 is a reasonable price. If you really want it buy it, I personally do not see a point in haggling over 3-6 thousand rupees. A client has told me that freight costs have increased by 20-23% this month and they expect a further increase in costs. Do not compare the offers this year vs the previous.

Take that money and put it in FD-RD, forget about it for a year; Next year buy in price advantage or higher variant/alternative.

Prices for following TVs very close to and on dushera and diwali day/s. Maybe as per guessing to current prices and last year prices.

LG C1 48 inch

LG C1 55 Inch

LG G1 55 Inch

I am considering G1 because it looks sturdy and if we shift houses then i would have lost less hair protecting it.

At this point i may go for a 48 inch if price difference is too high. As added 2 year warrantly will cost around 20-25k.

Actually flipkart page says 60 hz for 50 inch and 120 for 55 inch. But when I go to samsung page it doesn't have any such disclaimer for 50 inch model like they have for ots. Like 50 inch has Ots lite as mentioned in the OTS section. In the 120 hz rr section it doesnt have any such disclaimer that 50 inch has a lower refresh rate.

Even if the refresh rate is 60 i have no way of finding out how to check. I dunno about VRR either. Some of the experts can help. Gotta say one thing though if my emi cancel goes smoothly and i am not charged the interest discount then this is probably the best TV for less than 70k. Only the LG 55 b oled would come close after applying similar tactic.

Noted, That's really bad news. ?

Like others have suggested will give it one last try and see what's the best price at D&D. (Dussehra & Diwali). Keeping my eyes on this thread to see if anyone else manages anything better this year.

If I am correct the panel of C1 and G1 are exactly the same. I'm that case won't it be better to save money and get the C1? Don't really see the point in spending more just for slightly better built.

Also do you need that extended warranty? In my usual experience atleast from the big brand products either the product fails in less than 6 months due to some issue or if it does not out usually lasts a very very very long time. This is my usual experience with Samsung and LG. Unless OLED tv in particular need more care?

Do you have a pc with you? Connect the pc with hdmi port or display port in case your TV has that. Go u up nvidia control panel and change the refresh rate from 60Hz to 120hz. If your TV does not support 120hz i dont think you will even get an option to change the refresh rate.
