The TV Decision Making Thread

Guys what about Phillips ??

I'm getting 40" full HD led TV for 30K with 3 years warranty

My nephew has bought the same Phillips TV in 55" for 55K I guess.. from Reliance Digital and they are quite pleased with it. Once a very renowned brand but due to lack of innovations it was left behind. Still they produce decent quality TVs nowadays.

Btw, The one is bought was a non-smart Full HD LED TV.

My advice :- Just compare Micromax/Vu/Phillips/Toshiba & Panasonic in the same range once and then go for it.

KLV-40W562D model has almost all the features (except speaker type) that of KDL-40W700C.......The only reason for the price difference is due the 1st model having only 2 HDMI ports and the later one having 4 HDMI ports.

Actually, I am also planning to buy a 40inch TV and is more inclined towards KLV-40W562D. Before buying this TV I have few questions I would like IVGians view on it.

1. Is Sony PS4k gonna upscale or play native 4k games or just guarantee a smooth 1080p 60fps experience along with 4k media playback?

2. Considering above question, is it a wise decision to by a 4k TV or stick with a full HD TV until PS5?

3. If buying a 4k TV should I consider VU 4k TV or how is this LG model (http://www.amazon.in/gp/aw/d/B01BGEOU4A/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1460147015&sr=8-2π=SX200_QL40&keywords=Lg+4k&dpPl=1&dpID=51ARmkNcPKL&ref=plSrch) so far no customer reviews.

Thank you in advance :)

The more HDMI ports the better.. Considering a scenario where you would want to connect a DTH, PS4 and Chromecast (or like wise) device to the TV, you wont have to pug/unplug the ports everytime.. Also if one or more HDMI ports get damaged on the long run, you still will have some spare ports..

Regarding PS4K.. Nothing is official.. Head on to the PS4&XONE mega discussion thread and know more..

If buying 4k TV, I would suggest you to check how does 1080p video look in the TV.. Since 4k content is not very common at the moment.. So if the full hd content appears pixelated on the TV, it would be wise to get a 1080p TV.. I personally don't like the display quality of non HD channels on my 1080p TV..

Dude, think of it logically. To play games in native 4K on a PC in this day and age requires you to have a $1000+ setup with probably TWO 980ti cards set in SLI. Do you really think Sony will be able to provide native 4K gaming at sub $400 price tag?

I agree with you....it won't be possible for Sony to provide with 4k gaming at sub $400 price but what if the somehow they manage to upscale to 4k......should I still consider 4k TV (LG 4k TV on Amazon is too tempting as I am not interested in smart features) or stick with 1080p tv

TV itself upscales to 4k,SD channels also look very decent. I would anyway pick a 4k tv today as you don't change tv every year or two years.

Hi Guys, pls suggest a decent home theater 5.1 setup ~30000. Should have very good surround and decent bass.

I was looking at the following options,

Yamaha 196 (or 299 if price difference is worth it)

Pioneer htp 072

Or

Sony dz350- If going for below 20k

Will use for my DTH, ps4 and ps3 primarily. Have a Sony 3d TV with Audio return channel and optical out.

Not looking for towers due to space constraints.

Thanks in advance and do let me know if this should be posted elsewhere.

So the catalog begins to start, guess 4k is gonna pick up real fast now, seeing that they cost almost the same as normal blu ray. Time for market to get filled with tons of 4k blu ray players and prices to drop.

So guys strongly suggest if you are buying a new tv start picking 4K tvs you will have enough content in a year, and suddenly FHD tv will start losing steam.

@Pacifier --> Dude, Can you check the Onkyo series.. I mean Onkyo 5.1 will produce a decent sound with that budget. I have used Onkyo HTS3400 previously for 25990/- and that was some 4 years ago. Now I think you will get a good one for 30K price tag.

Nice that it's finally starting. Separate 4k Blu Ray Player not yet launched in C Region (where India is situated) it seems.

Hope Neo has 4k blu ray capabilities.

Lol, seeing that tye standalone player is costing 400$ at this time, you really think they will add 4k capabilities. If they do be ready to shell Out around 650$
