Today's Painter :

Rob Hefferan is a figurative painter and professional illustrator working out of the UK. Born in Manchester in 1968, Rob was a true free spirit from the very beginning. Desperate to follow an artistic career he found discouragement round every corner, with the exception of his art teacher who recognized that his childish drawings of dinosaurs were something rather special. Ignoring the advice of his elders, he gained a place at university to study for a degree in illustration, but after a year he began to feel constrained by the limitations of the course and decided to go it alone.

Today's Painter

Eric Zener (b. 1966, Astoria, Oregon) is an American photorealist artist best known for figure paintings of lone subjects, often in or about swimming pools.

Zener was born in 1966 in Astoria, Oregon, to a psychologist father and a violinist mother who played for the San Francisco Symphony. He grew up in the seaside community of Encinitas, California. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara he worked briefly as a buyer for a department store, before backpacking around the world for nearly two years, bartering paintings for room and board. In 1991 he settled in San Francisco, where he was still living as of 2004.

Zener has three children, the first born in approximately 1998. As of 2009 he lives with his wife, business partner, and frequent model, Julie, in Mill Valley, California. He paints mostly out of a studio in San Francisco.

Zener is a self-taught artist.

Eric Zener spent his childhood by the sea in Encinitas, California. No wonder he has such a love for water. He paints what he values… each painting idyllic and in the moment, while internally symbolizing his family, life, and views.
