megzworld
Thanks for sharing those painting pics.. Simply Brillient. As for why Games come so expensive.. I used to wonder the same before becoming a member of IVG.. Then I realised that Game Lovers are the likes of MT and other BMW, AUdi owners .. and people who post religiously on What they bought weekly.. I know it's not very expensive actually.. Solitaire
The issue though is that it's not always the paintings like the ones painstakingly drawn above that command the maximum price. Some of the stuff that goes for millions is inane, impressionist crap that sells for millions waaaaaay after the person who drew it has died of poverty. They never benefit while the so-called collectors pay loads of cash to some person who came into possession of the same at a much later date. And quite frankly, I find no real artistic value in a number of these (I don't mean the ones above, I mean in general the "ZOMFG Headlines today posts that it went for 2 mil" painting) highly-prized paintings, except a few real masters of art. I'm not quite the most unrefined person around, the right opposite in fact. Even with videogames, there are soooo many people putting all their efforts into a single title day in and day out. Many painters certainly do, but some of these guys get famous quick somehow depending on whose patronage they have and then a few strokes of their brush is worth the weight of the canvas in gold. Bulovski
It depends on some people. A lot of paintings are hyped. Art usually needs the test of time and can reach inside you and project emotions. I love the works of Raphael and Van Gogh - both can tell stories in their own way through art. If I had the money I would pay the amount for Starry Nights.

Anyway, apparently the below painting by a guy called 'mondrian', is supposed to be worth millions too. I agree with you. I remember interviewing 3 very talented budding painters from JJ school of arts.. Their paintings were a work of art.. U know they were ready to rock n roll even on a retainership of 6k per month (I am talking 2009). I asked them, why they would not go about exhibiting their work, they talked of nexus, high exhibition capital required, and ofcourse some senior known Painters buying their work and posting as their own.. Sab Ganda hai par dhanda hai yeh.. I always wanted to collect art for my house.. But after meeting up with these artists I decided, I would rather buy the works of such lesser known talented artists rather than pay Lacs and more for the big names.. Yeah atleast Picasso's bullshit took a bit of effort to paint, this kind of art doesn't even need work. Get some Bruce Wayne- level rich snobs to look at your art and say "Jolly good, a true masterpiece old boy." and it sells for as much as an african country's worth. Made it in paint -- 9 hrs of hard work - in office Pretty damn good. But unless you're office hires you for artwork, you deserve for wasting office time ... j/k
