rad2689
Scholes retires - but stays at OT really sad but i believe the time is absolutely right
Mel81x
The end of an era for lots of players imo. Everyone always remembers the players in front and I don't know too many people who take a minute to talk about the guys that keep the wall intact. I still don't think Scholes belongs in any team of the decade on the simple grounds that he is brash but he is part of the dream-era for United and he has stayed loyal to the club and that definitely deserves respect. theneurotoxin
I don't think brash is the right word — he hardly ever opens his mouth. There are many wonderful things he can do on a football pitch but tackling has never been one of them.
Mel81x
I don't think brash is the right word — he hardly ever opens his mouth. There are many wonderful things he can do on a football pitch but tackling has never been one of them. He talks? But just to make things clear its not his talking I was referring to its his midfield prowess and the way he plays the defensive enforcing role. But when you look at that team from the 90s and how they all turned out you can't help but feel for the way Scholes turned out. Look at the role models he's had in that position putting Keane aside (we all know how quickly he erupts). He's had some of the best to learn from and its ok if his tackling goes awry now and then but at times you'll see him go for a challenge that you know someone with lesser experience would have just stayed away from only to see him get carded or sent off. It's probably something to do with the UK mentality to the position and how its meant to be played there but you rarely see a tactician in that part of the pitch anymore in PL, its more of augmented defense. rad2689
Sir Bobby: "Paul Scholes is my favourite player. He epitomises the spirit of Manchester United and everything that is good about football." ♥ ♥ ♥ Ferdinand; 'Paul Scholes aka Sat Nav went from a scoring midfielder to a dictator of the game(changed his game while still at top of the game) #genius' Sam Allardyce: "There is not a better mi...dfield player in the world." Zinedine Zidane : "My toughest opponent? Scholes of Manchester. He is the complete midfielder. David Gill : "It is very sad day for Man utd fans around the World. We all know that Paul was one of the players that came through the ranks of the academy system in the 1990's and has established himself as one of the greatest players to ever wear the United shirt. It is very important that the Club keeps its association with these great players and we are delighted that Paul will join the coaching staff." Glenn Hoddle : "There isn’t a player of his mould anywhere else in the world." Alan Shearer : "If you ask footballers to pick out the player they most admire, so many of them will pick Paul Scholes." shekdown
He'll sell Berbatov and invest in midfielders that Man Utd desperately need. Hargreaves can be written off. Scholes has retired. Anderson hasnt lived anywhere close to the expectations set for him. Carrick is on a decline. Fletcher is useful as hell but doesnt have creativity that Man Utd severely lack.
