Essien is one badass bull on the pitch but the injuries have not been kind on him; last season was horrific as well. He will be 29 this year and next tow years will have ACN so more chances of an injury. Ramires and Mikel are capable to cover our midfield. I love essien a lot but i feel his prime is past him. C'mon.. Malouda's departure is still ok as he is no longer a lethal option... But, Essien.. absolutely NOT!! he had one bad season... lemme correct.. not even one but half a bad season & yu want him to leave?!! For all the more lulz yu think Ramires (who goes down when touched even with a finger) & MIKEL (who is a perfectionist on how to lose possession) can anchor the midfield?? balls... As much as I want Sneijder to be at Stamford Bridge,, I can't really see Essien, the muscle of our midfield, leave... If this deal actually materializes, then Chelsea has no choice but to go out in market for another anchorman or concede a minimum of a 10 goal deficit next season... I'm all up for straight cash or malouda+cash deal... Malouda can also spark up his end days with glory in Seria A.. I think its a perfect option for him as well... I dont like us losing essien but its worth it if we get some one like weasly who can- play in multiple positions, tip, cam, wings. is an excellent set piece taker- our set pieces are so bad that drogba has to take corners instead of heading them. feed torres with those OMFG balls. Mikel has potential.. he always seemed to have it since the day I 1st saw him as a blue... But, Chelsea has given Mikel 0 chance to prove himself as a regular... He always seems confident on the ball... But, since he is always & always there to prove himself, from the bench of-course, his confidence in his ability seems so shaky that even his killer passes filled with confidence sometime goes straight into the feet of the opposition... I've seen it countless times.. If that happens to change his mindset once he is given a permanent role, then good!! Coaches know better though... Also, he is a bit slow when he has to chase back.. he gives up or commits a foul every time he has to... Right now, I wouldn't want him to command the backline of our midfield.. that is the strongest feature of this Chelsea side and i don't want us to be losing that!! With that said, yes i want Sneijder for all the reasons yu mentioned above and more... But, not at the cost of Essien!! He didnt and we messed up. Mikel is such an amazing player who keeps the play ticking. And hes a very calm and composed head. Also a very good tackler and is not afraid to get stuck in. Drogba, torres, Sturridge will do fine. Ship out anelka for lukaku and we have a good strike force.
