Neither Arsenal nor Chelsea have strengthened their squad where it was needed.I just cant understand why AVB hasnt signed a play-maker who would play just behind the strikers, which is very much needed.Arsenal on the other hand have signed Gervinhio which is a terrific signing. But no defenders which is the primary concern for Arsenal.

Hence they have given an advantage to Manchester United so early in the season.Chelsea till now havent found their right formation yet.Arsenal is same defensively in pre-season friendlies like they were last season.Liverpool on the other hand is a bit of a shaky affair.u never know what they turn up with. Thus ManUtd have an advantage.

All in good time. All in good time.

Barcelona tell midfielder to stay in England until after Super Cup

Following years of interest and speculation, a spokesperson for the European champions announced on Friday lunchtime that the transfer of the Arsenal captain, which is worth a speculated £35million, could finally be completed 'within hours'.

Fabregas was therefore set to fly to Spain this afternoon in order to put the finish touches to his return to his boyhood club before attending Sunday's Super Cup between Barcelona and Real Madrid.

But Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola has told the midfielder, who is expected to sign a five-year contract and is viewed as a long-term successor to Xavi, to cancel the flight in order to avoid upsetting Arsenal.

Fabregas has not been included in the Premier League club's squad for Saturday's season-opener at Newcastle, however, the Gunners say a sale has yet to be concluded.

As a result, the 24-year-old will stay in England while the deal is finalised over the weekend and it is expected he will then be unveiled as a Barcelona player on Monday.

Arsenal also risk losing Samir Nasri this summer after the Frenchman made it clear that he does not want to sign a new contract, and both Manchester City and Manchester United are interested.

Manager Arsene Wenger, though, is adamant that the Emirates Stadium outfit remain a club of significant magnitude, despite potentially being forced into selling their two best players.

He said at his press conference on Friday morning: "Manchester United let (Cristiano) Ronaldo go, do you think they are not a big club?"

And Wenger was also adamant he was in no hurry to bring new players in.

"Do we want to buy? I don't know because at the moment we have too big a squad, we have too many players," he added.

Arsenal agree Campbell terms

Arsenal have announced they have agreed terms to sign teenage striker Joel Campbell on a day when Cesc Fabregas stands on the brink of joining Barcelona.

Nineteen-year-old Campbell was in his country's squad for the recent Copa America and the Under-20 World Cup.

The Gunners, who at the same time insist a deal has yet to be agreed for the sale of Fabregas, revealed on Friday night the transfer is subject to the completion of 'formal agreements and processes'.

Manager Arsene Wenger told his club's official website: "Joel Campbell has already shown that he is a player with great ability, and has also performed well on the international stage at a young age.

"We look forward to the formalities of the transfer being completed and working with Joel when he joins us at Arsenal."

Campbell is predominantly left-footed and has made six full international appearances, scoring twice.

He scored on his debut in a 5-0 win over Cuba at this year's CONCACAF Gold Cup, helping his side to the competition's quarter-finals.

Campbell has had two seasons in his native Primera Division, where he played for Deportivo Saprissa and on loan at Puntarenas, making a total of eight league appearances.

he just said that gunners got a good size squad, then he sign another teenager.

i know its good for future, but gunners need some well establish and talented players in thr squad if they want to win any silverware.

In other news, a toilet cleaner working at Old Trafford, who is a friend of my enemy claims that he saw Sneijder playing poker with the United reserve team at Carrington. Expect his signing to be completed in a day or two. Remember folks you heard it from me first... B)
