Tottenham move closer to signing Brazil striker Leandro Damião

Tottenham Hotspur have made another move for their long-time target Leandro Damião and they believe that they are close to a deal. André Villas-Boas, the club's new manager, is in urgent need of reinforcements up front and has identified Damião, the Brazil and Internacional striker, as one solution.

Tottenham have a sporting partnership with Internacional – they signed the midfielder Sandro from them in 2010 – and they hope that this can help to smooth the transfer.

Tottenham, meanwhile, continue to stand their ground over Luka Modric.Club refuse to sanction his release for less than £40m.

Spurs are big idiots. Modric doesnt want to stay at Spurs, he is going sooner or later. 30m is a great amount for him, they should take that amount and strengthen the positions where they lack GK + ST.

And the main thing is I don't really know why Real are ready to pay 30m for Modric!

For 30 million I would say its a decent price .Any more and you are wasting cash .Last season Chelsea had a 40 Million Pound offer rejected as Levy assumed Modrics value would grow even further .Right now the problem for Spurs is that Modric wants to leave and only to Real so if they keep him for 1 more year his value will drop a further 5-10 million .

Also Real badly need Modric cause Modric is one of those players who when played alongside a good defensive midfielder can do wonders and his partnership with Xabi Alonso can be the key to unlocking the 10th Champions League for Real

Kaka is past his prime,Ozil drifts more towards the wings and right now Khedira or Xabi are having to do the creative work .With Modric their squad will be complete

Why don't they just use Sahin? He could be the creative hub.
