AngerSmash
Replacing Angel Di Maria with James goes down as one of the dumbest decision ever. Last year Madrid looked like an actual team and DI Maria being their second most influential player. Their team looks weak defensively but they will pretty much outscore any one now so f**k defence. LOL and if DI Maria stays he will replace James Rodrigues instead of the opposite when Madrid realises of their f**k up half way through the season. Rosh
Di Maria is great defensively as well, Rodriguez is not a replacement, he will play a central role behind benzema.

I think its not so much as a like for like replacement in terms of position but the fact being that Madrid is trying to actively push out Di Maria to maybe just balance the books a little (yes they need to do it too at times) or to open up a slot in the squad for J Rod. Which is funny as he was very influential & a vital cog in their team last season. they need a new formation now Ronaldo-Benzema-Bale Di maria-Kroos-modric-Rodriguez Alonso Pepe Ramos Classic 1800's formation that Edited July 22, 2014 by LeonardoInventions
gooner4life
First of all the cost of both players combined is 12 million, so that's one thing you need to get right before getting on your high horse. Second we have replaced Aspas with a player who's scored 28 goals in two seasons (& a lifelong fan to boot so will have that extra motivation to perform) & Borini with someone who's scored 20 in 40 appearances, both within a reasonable budget & both of them look like they can fit in very well in our system. How on earth is that not a good piece of business I would never know. But then again its you of all people so yeah.. whatever How can you 'replace' someone who was not even playing at your club last season(Borini) & the other one also hardly played.. The player who they are replacing is Suarez & they are not good enough to do that. You needed a marquee player to replace LS, but you haven't been able to buy someone like that, even though you tried(Sanchez). Either Remy or Lambert will start most of your matches next season along side Sturridge. You are not getting both of these players to sit on the bench as a backup. So I don't see how it's a good piece of business. Buying a lot of average players to replace 1 quite good player(Bale), is exactly what Spurs tried to do last season & failed. You are going on the same path right now.
The Wolfy among us
I don't think either Lambert or Remy is a replacement for Suarez. The transfer season isn't over now is it?
gooner4life
So you mean Liverpool is going to buy another ST, despite buying Remy & Lambert? Unlikely imo. But let's see what more you buy. Lovren would be a good signing though, if you can get him.

You are going on the same path right now. Aspas hardly played because he didn't fit in and couldn't score the goals, hence the change? And this year we have more games than last season so no need to loan out Borini (& again he also needed to be improved upon), Rodgers himself said he needed four strikers. Not to mention having some sort of quality on the bench which was lacking with Aspas & Moses. Perfect replacement for Luis is impossible to find but its Sturridge who'll take his mantle now, not Lambert & Remy. Sanchez was not necessarily replacing Luis like for like because I believe Brendan is changing his formation from diamond this year. Sanchez was going to play a different role as a part of the front three I reckon. Still like Wolfy said transfer window isn't over because we wanted someone like Sanchez & are still in the market for that type of player, and no Markovic isn't that because he was scouted extensively before interest in Sanchez. And I've said it before how the case with Spurs was different but I see many folks still comparing us with them, clearly nothing will change with them harping on & on with that so carry on. pArth
@ people saying Madrid is trying to push di maria out. He wants to leave. Its not Madrid its di maria. Why would Madrid sell their second best player of the season Also Ozil left last year, and real were fine. Bale and James are capable of falling back and take up some defensive duties. I still pray di maria shudnt leave
Heaven Angel
Huh? It's Pérez who doesn't want Di Maria. Di Maria 'wants' to stay at Madrid. Angel Di Maria’s agent has suggested that a “presidential issue” is behind his client’s proposed move from Real Madrid to Monaco in the January transfer window. “[Di Maria] has a contract which runs until 2018,” Lopez said. “Many clubs want him. There is a presidential issue there. But I do not want to talk about it.” Angel di Maria says he wants to stay at Real Madrid but is aware the club might want to sell him this summer. "I am very happy," he said. "I had a great year and the fans recognised that, I always had their support. Although you want to stay, sometimes you cannot because the club wants another player, or to make more signings, and needs to sell. And somebody must go. But I am very happy."
