As shown in the past few years. The top 6 teams are separated by very few points. Liverpool lost the league in the penultimate game last time. Man city who were third for a majority of the season, knicked it. Four years back, they won it on the last day, in injury time. Is that more exciting, or having a two, maybe three horse race, with so much of money pumped in at real and Barca, they can afford any player, at any wage? Last season Barca vs ATM was decider on final day. Currently top 2 seperated by 1 point whereas in epl its 6 with chelsea one game in hand. Currently EPL is not even a 2 horse race. Epl's popularity globally is because of Marketing and English (language), and here also because of conducive (to air) timings vis a vis la liga. Also UCL performance is cyclic in nature. Where were you when epl teams featured regularly in last 4 ? Hell, in one iteration 3/4 teams were from epl in the semi stages, and i am talking events from the last 6-7 seasons. Chelsea alone has a fantastic record of a number of semifinal showings. Arsenal has Always made it to knock outs in UCL, iirc the only team to have done so across leagues. Your assertion here of gauging league "quality" based on 2 seasons would be akin to if I cherry pick your post to chart out the IQ level of football thread to show how we're (barely, only) marginally better than those chumps on the cricket side whereas in reality there's a gulf of quality in between. _ I am talking about last 4-5 years. There is no doubt EPL was best league in the world in last decade but not anymore. Last season both CL finalist and one Europa league finalist was Spanish teams. Its the rise of spanish league and fall of EPL. Dont compare cricket and football. Football is more about banter. If you cant take it then you are in wrong sport. EPL had golden run during 2005-2009. Its was really the golden era of English league. But historically if u see Italy and Spanish teams are more success full than English teams . And in last few years English teams are really struggling.
