I think I heard some commentary that spurs had missed champions league some time ago due to the 4 teams per league restriction.. It seems that its increased to 5 teams now.. Despite finishing 7th, they were automatically qualified for UCL and Spurs were to compete in Europa league. The rules changed. Â It depends on Europa league winner. In general it is 4, but: The UEFA Europa League winners will be entered in the UEFA Champions League (at a minimum level of the play-offs). The UEFA Europa League winners will be elevated into the group stage if the UEFA Champions League winners qualify directly for the UEFA Champions League group stage via their domestic league programme. Sevilla qualified for the UEFA Champions League via the 2014/15 UEFA Europa League. Â If Liverpool wins, there will be 5 teams from England next year in Champions league. Only Bayern and Dortmund fight and looking at Bayern team, anything less than league title is a massive failure. Their real test is in champions league, where they have not won with him. His real test begins now. Let's see what has he got. He will be against Mourinho, Conte, Klopp, Poch, Wenger etc, and in most competitive league in the world. Fun times ahead. I am expecting Liverpool to step up since Klopp will build a team he wants, United to lift higher if Mourinho joins, Chelsea to build with Conte and Spurs to improve even more. Leicester might not continue on same level.
