Mel81x
that new ball apparently does more of a samba than Brazil's best in the air. Expect fewer goals because strikers get subjected to its 'air-dancing' too
Nemo
speaking of which, anyone else read the news about the one adidas (or was it fifa, must be adidas) suit dismissing all the complaints regarding the ball by Dunga as- "he is just preparing an excuse so that when brazil crach out from the cup he has to hind behind somehing" (not wxact words) Dunga tore him a new one, said this bitch never played a football match in his life and now he is questioning a pro player's judgement, he also asked him to come and play with his brazillian squad to see how exactly the ball behaves (implicit meaning- if he has the 'balls') Dunga + respect !! Mel81x
http://www.breakingfootballnews.com/world-...ome-valcke/2804 Personally, this is how i see it. NO ONE is getting any kind of advantage here! Dunga can cry all he wants and Jerome can play his handicapped football with Brazil but the fact that companies spend countless months trying to improve the tech behind a ball is one of the many ways that the sport has to improve. That's why it wasn't introduced one month before the WC it was shown several months before to allow everyone the chance to practice and put their skills to the test. As a result, if we see fewer (or more) goals at a WC is not direct reflection of the companies flaw but practice and learning the new ball? If FIFA goes back on this and says we dont want the ball and replace it with a classic ball then all we will see is more people asking the question "But we practiced for so long with the new ball, why the change now?" P.S. Respect to Dunga for what he said... but I feel that Jerome has a point too, however, the comment about Brazil worrying about not making it to the end is very unbecoming of a FIFA rep. Mel81x
All I have to say is ... if the goalkeepers are crying then imagine the midfielders who take free kicks and OMG imagine players who take run ups that use the grass slide to float the ball over walls. This ball moves in the air so you don't know know if its flying inwards or outwards at the goalie and the player himself doesn't know if its going to "knuckle-ball" itself away from the goal. Players like C.Ronaldo are going to have a hard time with this ball and if anyone thinks for a second that a swerve master for free-kicks is getting away here then they better have practiced because the WC will not be pretty for them. P.S. I love how the ball-hype only starts pre-WC and when its all done the Jabulani will go in a vault and no one will ever see it again.
