Dark_Knight
A great game between Japan and Syria. Justice was done in the end with Japan getting the 3 points. rad2689
Awesome Madrid derby going on at the Bernabeu. Real 1-1 Atletico All out attack by Real but somehow Atletico are keeping them out mostly because of their awesome GK De Gea
Madhav
We’re edging towards the halfway point of the January transfer window... Here are some recent speculations:- When Chelsea's Subotic aspirations were shattered by Dortmund, Blues had to revive their interest in David Luiz... Ancelotti himself wants him at Stamford Bridge no matter what. A fresh £21million offer (which now includes Paulo Ferreira<Phew!>) has been tabled. With Benfica's statement being that they've already signed Luiz' replacement, Jardel, the deal seems to have a high probability to go through. Blues last resort could be BB Rover's Christopher Samba who seems to be unsettled post Sam Allardyce's sacking and is very interested in joining a top flight club. He could also feature in UCL for the latter stages! Meanwhile, rumor has it that Ancelotti has layed his eyes on a long-term Lampard replacement, Lyon's Miralem Pjanic. With France playmaker Yoann Gourcuff also at Lyon, Pjanic could be a Blue soon if Chelsea steps up in his chase. Also, Bosingwa is no longer on Ancelotti's long term plans. Chelsea's new target at right is understood to be Ajax's Gregory Van Der Wiel... A summer offer looks imminent. While Bosingwa is on AC Milan's Radar. Arsenal are close to agreeing a £5million deal for Southampton youngster Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Arsenal's strong relationship with Southampton, after the signing of Theo Walcott, could work in their favor as Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United also seem to be interested in the kid. Wenger is also in the market for a new centre-back with Premier League experience. Gary Cahill is their strong target But Coyle is keen to keep him till the rest of the season. So, a move for the former Arsenal defender Matthew Upson ( ) is under consideration.. But a bid of just £500,000 might go against them as Sunderland are in for Upson as well. There's not much from United's camp, but SAF' hunt for a world class Goalkeeper is still on. From Buffon to Reina to De Gea to Neuer, United have failed to lure many of the top level GKs. Their new target comes in the face of Bayer Leverkusen's no.1 shot-stopper, Rene Adler. It is understood that Rene Adler dreams to be at Old Trafford and apparently there's a special release clause in his contract that pertains to United and United only, with the number in that clause being a bid anywhere between 15-20m (Lulwut?). Anyway, he is 25, a commanding figure between the uprights who will only get better in years.. Its United's move now, but only in the summer :| Also, Jose Mourinho has ricocheted United's interest in Diarra by saying that he is very much in his plans. And, Wes Brown seems to staring at OT's exit doors! Liverpool should be the one dipping their hands in transfer market the most.. But the situation is completely opposite as of the moment! Daldlish' Dream Dozen is understood to be Luis Suarez, Charlie Adam, Charles N’zogbia, Ashley Young, Victor Obinna, Lacina Traore, Lee Cattermole, Scott Parker, Mohamed Diame, Lassana Diarra, Eljero Elias & Shaun Wright-Phillips! Dalglish, sign atleast one! ___________________________________________________________________________________ Edited January 14, 2011 by Madhav
'Pranay
^^ roman came in 2003, we reached our first semi in the same season. yes roman and money helped but that is not the point. for what ever reason, 2000s was dominated by english teams in UCL, yes only 2 titles were won but when you look as a whole, there were lots of english teams in the knock out and above rounds. Valencia apart from the first 2 years were not to be seen anywhere in later stages of CL. Same with roma, juve, inter, bayern who all had very limited presence. I am aware inter won the title but apart from last season they were invisible in the decade. It was mainly the big two of spain, AC milan, chelsea, man utd, liverpool and arsenal those who had on an avg much better show in the UCL. that being said, i would gladly take 1 UCL title and 9 meh seasons (ala inter) over 4-5 semifinal appearance (ala chelsea) w/o a title in a decade i think you mean invincible Yeah Made an epic typo lol
DevilsOwn
For all those who are saying that the quality of BPL has gone down, two things: 1. Sepp Blatter is a jerk, DONT listen to him 2. Look at this years Champions league results: BPL - 3 Teams topped the group, 1 in 2nd (one being in second being the almight Arsenal ) La Liga - 2 Teams on top, 1 in 2nd Bundesliga - 2 on top Scudetto - 3 in second position. If that is anything to go by, well BPL has clearly done the best. La Liga gets blown out of position only cause Barca have been phenomenal last year. Even Madrid have been piss poor in the UCL recently. So, for the doomsayers, maybe, just maybe, think about the fact that the English League is so close, not because the top teams are bad, but maybe because the overall quality is better. --------------- P.S. Santa Cruz - back to Rovers on a loan deal.

Sadly a lot of the ppl on that list wouldn't even consider Liverpool at the moment considering how we are looking this season.

Before that it was pretty much same 00 - 01 - Leeds United ,Deportivo La Coruña , Arsenal , Valencia, Galatasaray , Real Madrid Manchester United Bayern Munich 01 - 02 - Panathinaikos Barcelona Bayern Munich Real Madrid Deportivo La Coruña Manchester United Liverpool Bayer Leverkusen 02 - 03 - Real Madrid Manchester United Ajax Milan Internazionale Valencia Juventus Barcelona 03 - 04 - Chelsea Arsenal Milan Deportivo La Coruña Porto Lyon Real Madrid Monaco 04 - 05 - Liverpool Juventus Lyon PSV Eindhoven Chelsea Bayern Munich Milan Internazionale 05 - 06 - Arsenal Juventus Lyon Milan Internazionale Villarreal Benfica Barcelona England - Arsenal - 3 Chelsea - 2 man utd - 3 leeds - 1 liverpool - 2 Spain - Barcelona - 3 real madrid - 4 Deportivo - 3 Valencia - 2 Villareal - 1 Italy - Milan - 4 Inter - 3 Juventus - 3 Other team - Bayern - 3 Lyon - 3 So you cant say this as domination can you ? It mainly an equal competions with all the league pretty much equal as well. La liga was very much competitive those days as well. After 05/06 It has been english domination along with Barca imo. Cause they reached the QF every year. And Also SF as well.

'Pranay
Im A huge fan of all the major leagues. I dont compare them mostly but i consider Epl as the best currently cause of better perform of teams in ucl and cause its very competitive as compared to other leagues La liga has degraded a bit interms of competitiveness, i remember 05-06 as the year where it was very competitive + the league was decided on the last days. Real and Barca atleast use to lose 6/8 matches , here they are barely lose more then 3 or 4 :| Serie A has degraded for the obvious reasons still its it became competitive after Rafa was incharge. AC Milan and Juventus have a good team atleast now Bundesliga is my fav XD cause its damn unpredictable Epl > Bundesliga > La liga > Serie A <- Currently. Considering stats and the points i mentioned above My Preference La liga > serie A > Bundesliga > epl
hsk_colossus
My Preference La liga > serie A > Bundesliga > epl for me la liga> epl> seria a i think the real and barca have become too strong for the rest of the league ..rest of the teams have remained same... just checked europa league stats ,spain has won it 3 times in last ten years ...while epl has won it once (liverpool in 2k1 ) .. i still consider the Spanish league stronger than epl...plus the lay more attention to offence than defence ,which is always fun Edited January 14, 2011 by hsk_colossus

Mel81x
Whatever happened to Deportivo La Coruna? sigh ... still one of my favorite La Liga teams but then again they were good a while back and now they are just struggling. I blame a part of it on the money factor and the fact that a lot of leagues didn't exercise any control on the expenditure component that led to a tip in the balance but then again which country doesn't want its league to have a winning team when it comes to showing pride

I think in La liga most of the money [TV rights etc] 80% is earned by Barca and Real :| while the rest 20% goes to other teams. Will post regarding this later :|. But seriously money matters. Joy
+1 Mel , I also liked Deprotivo La Coruna a lot back in 05-06 , they used to play their footbal similar to EPL style even w/o big names , plus their club name is so awesome. Nemo
subotic out of our reach ? damn.. really liked him. he is one of the reason BvB are having such a stellar season; btw have a look at their first 11, the oldest player is at 26, Lucas Barrios such awesome potential they have. Looking forward to some great football by them in seasons to come. Back home, i really... reaaaaaly want to see us make a splash in transfer window. subotic would have been great, but alas. David Luiz now.. eh, another highly rated player, good to see we are having more than one options, but no joy till some progress is made; off loading paulo will be another awesome Regarding lamps' "replacement" well lets just be clear, no one can replace the awesome that is Frank Lampard Jr. however, that lyon dude who for the love of me, i cant get his spelling right :|, is young, talented and apparently unsettled in his club as gourcuff plays his spot. GET HIM CARLO !! David Luiz, that lyon dude and Van der wiel.. good targets and for a change get able too.
