Snake
Day 8: Gran Turismo and Real Life There are times when Gran Turismo and Real Life have come together for something special.Every single time that happened, the result boggled people's mind and showed them that Polyphony Digital's dedication and pursuit for perfection does not end at Video Games alone. Below are the instances which show you what happens when Gran Turismo and Real Life meld and create magic GT by Citroën The GT by Citroën is a sports car that debuted as a concept car on October 2 at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. The car is a collaboration between French automaker Citroën and Gran Turismo developer Polyphony Digital. Six cars are said to be built, but production was cancelled due to high costs. The Data Logger Visualization allows users to playback GPS replays from a real life racetrack session on their copy of Gran Turismo 5. When an appropriately equipped car is driven on a racetrack, the Data Logger tracks the vehicle's position around the track and stores lap data. In addition to GPS data, the Logger also interfaces with the car's Controller Area Network (CAN) to record steering angle, throttle position, braking force, G-forces, engine speed, and even individual wheel speed. All of this data is used to create an accurate representation of what the car is doing as it makes its way around the track. This data is stored on a memory card and uploaded to your PS3 for use in Gran Turismo 5 for game engine replays. Players can then race against a ghost car of themselves to try to best their times. The Data logger is also built into the Toyota's FT-86 G Sport concept. Polyphony Digital, creators of Gran Turismo, were involved in the development of the GT-R, they were also contracted to design its multifunction display. Polyphony Digital posed the simple question, ‘If you built the fastest racing car on land, one that throws aside all rules and regulations, what would that car look like, how would it perform and how would it feel to drive?” With the assistance of Red Bull Racing’s technology and the knowledge of their Chief Technical Officer Adrian Newey , Polyphony Digital were able to produce the answer in the form of the “X1 Prototype”, which will be playable in Gran Turismo 5. Audi finds out. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Honda NSX on Laguna Seca: Gran Turismo vs Real Life Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson takes the Honda NSX in Gran Turismo 4 around Laguna Seca and sets a time of 1:41. He then crosses the pond and heads over to real Laguna Seca where he tries to match or beat the time he set on the PlayStation 2. Does he succeed? Watch on to find out. Pyrotek
I look at the X1 prototype, and the last car I can think of being included in a racing game with such single-minded focus on insane speed and even-more insane handling is the FZR 2000 from NFSII SE. Quite simply, that car was the X1's arcade counterpart! I do wish that Red Bull (or someone for that matter) does build this car. It really does make me curious to know what the perfect track-car would race like. Didn't Seb say this car went 30 seconds faster than his F1 car around the track? That sounds absurd, imagine driving one for real!

Pyrotek
this car goes against all d rulezzzzzz so i dont thnk it would be real I think that would be a myopic way to look at it. It's no different from a concept car, at the moment. Doesn't mean it couldn't become a reality! The only rules it needs to follow are Einstein's. Of course, you would need a superhuman to drive it, and that's a real stumbling block!

devil_angel
this car goes against all d rulezzzzzz so i dont thnk it would be real I think you misunderstood. The rules they're refering to are the rules concerning current motorsport, like engine specs, gearbox specs, tyre specs etc. They don't mean the rules of gravity or something This car is very much possible and we do have super humans (F1 drivers) to drive them. Seb was able to drive it very well in a game; no reason why he can't do it in reality. The only issue is money. People who want the car to be made......please fund the production
