Would you like to see celebs posing for your motherboard/graphic card/other gaming grade stuff

Hi I am The Sorcerer. Usually I am in techenclave, digit, chip and stuff, but this actually counting gaming AND h/w Indian communities because this concept is for gaming grade h/w. So I am just getting an idea so that I could show this to the company that "this ain't gonna work!".

Yeah well, let's just say there are few people from couple of companies who believe that they should use celebrities to launch motherboard and graphic cards.

I explained them in sweet language but it seems they are just not aware how public is. Just in the spirit of things and for the good of our sanity, I am taking this small survey. Just in case if any company asks if this tactic would work? I could simply show the survey results.

Yeah- I am serious. Some management do think celeb power for pc H/W will work. Here's the link for the survey:

lol... where do they come up with these "brainstorms"

are they friends with a down on his/her luck "celeb" n trying to get them publicity n some ad revenue? :giggle:

i don't think educated person looks for celeb backing when buying a technology product

that being said... :wallbash:

i wouldn't care... the way i look at it... when u *have* to rope in a superstar/celeb or resort to hot chicks it means your "product" is not strong enough to sell itself.

Atleast thats how i'd look at brand advertising for tech stuff..

baaki for things like beauty products and lingerie you need teh awesome chicks :puspa:

Its not about "let them do". They think people will fall for it and it will make gaming mobos/graphic cards/keyboard and mouse combos sell in India. This is what they think about how people respond to such ads. When I said that this is not how it works in India who will buy such stuff, they thought its just one man's opinion.

What he said!

Get some propers peeps from the gaming/tech industry to do it instead. Atleast then I know that the people promoting it actually know sh*t bout the product.

@The ^^^ Post: Yeah.. Most of the people I know who buy proper hardware are not really into Bollywood as much as regular people. Not sure how common this is but yeah.. thats what ive noticed.

I dont really care which way they go except the fact that bringing celebs would mean burning more money, which implies that they will recover this cost by increasing the prices, which is unacceptable to me..

hmmmm......

but u know what. ppl will fall for it. not all ppl think n buy. india mai logo ke paas bohot faaltu paisa hai. jo bolo jitne mai bolo khareed lete hai.

i hope u r not just relying on this thread alone to prove ur point. this community is just a small lowly fraction whose opinion wont matter n thus wont count.

If that was the case the X360 would have been a run away hit. It launched with celebs and failed miserably. Sure it got publicity and attention but people weren't aware and there were a whole gamut of other problems too such as price. It doesn't make sense to go with a celeb unless we're talking really mass market here (ie laptops, desktops, netbooks) not individual components because that gets a bit too niche and specific for the masses to understand what the product is next to random celeb number 420.

yes. my comment is more for the mass market products. celeb for a gfx card wont work at all. common man works better there. move ads dont hv celebs even here in japan, they just show some guy who i see eveeyday in local trains. :)

yaar sorcerer,

who made up this survey? saw it right now after reaching home.

i agree with Denton. its way too basic and most of the time i just picked one option just because the others werent conveying what i wanted to say.

what do u like about katrina kaif? her.. a. gucci bag b. black stockings c. other

[of course ©]

but i took it.

I know that. Its just a basic survey to give them an idea. I criticized a company before for giving an EOL board in a gaming tourney and someone else who should cover replacement warranty on cases which the front grills of the cases worth 2-4k corrode by putting on my blog, all of which I got a next day response OR the main management is aware of it of which they take the necessary steps.

I do put up hardware reviews usually in techenclave/digit/chip whenever I get a review sample, but this is something I was called in, they thought otherwise. SO just doing a basic 2-3 day survey and then compiling and putting it through them. As far as India is concerned, coolermaster and Gigabyte's management does keep an eye on things at their respected facebook page.

If they hired Kat i would gladly buy every tech product she endorsed and put it up my "you-know-what"

I so wish the PS Move was endorsed by her... :naughty:

I am not sure if they do this anymore, but I have seen Chicks posters being used in wineshops.. I mean retarded it looks but I guess it used to work or still works, I dunno, haven't been to wineshops in ages.

And Someone posted this in Jokes thread, so I guess it works with H/W too.
