yes, also the thieving scousers :P

Liverpudlians are actually one of the most decent people in UK, they also have a very good sense of humor...unlike London where everyone is just too damn busy with themselves. Ofcourse there are those 'not so friendly' areas in Liverpool but every city has them.

You just have to know where to go & how to keep your nose out of stuff, also don't wear a Manchester Utd shirt in Liverpool :P

Also I was thinking of doing MBA afterwards :P

Dude.. Hope I ain't an interference but I'll try and voice my view. It's good to see that you are planning ahead for your career with ideas of doing an MBA. My advice would be to just think of the time span that lies between you and an MBA as of now.

Almost 2 years at school, 3 or 4 years at engineering, at least 2 or 3 years at work to move up by a few rungs from an industry stand point. Only then can you apply and get an admit from a top 20 B-school!

Come to think of it, it will take the best part of a decade before you actually end up doing an MBA! Which means, there is a hell lotta time ahead and you might actually end up doing something else.

Although it is good to see yourself down the road, it is kinda pointless to visualise your entire life at one go, that too, sitting at school!:exoticdance:

So think about what you want from your Bachelor's degree. The best option would be to just work on your field of study based on what interests you the most. Don't go by the "scope" mania. That is the biggest mistake many students make! If you have a passion for learning something, you can always do well in it! :)

Why I say this is because, after your Bachelor's, you might get yourself too involved with the subject and decide for an MS or a PhD instead! At that point, the goals you set today would be invalidated and seem too childish and you will also lose track of what you really want in life!

So, give good thought to it and put your best foot forward. The will of God will never take you to a place where the grace of God cannot protect you! :)

May the force be with you. :)

Well, I passed class 12 with PCM stream. I want to do BTech in Computer Sciences, my aim in life is either be a games programmer or work for Google/Apple/Microsoft.. Please don't make fun.

I have taken this one year coaching and plan to take regular Engg Entrance Exam viz. JEE, AIEEE, VITEE, SRM, BITS(10+2) UPTU.. Friends please suggest more good colleges which I should opt for in India?

Also , is Singapore a good place to go for engg ? and what will be the costs to study there ? I was looking to get admission in NTU http://www.ntu.edu.sg/Pages/default.aspx

I also plan to give TOEFL but after I have taken admission in Engg I dont have that much Budget that I can go to study in Canada or USA ...

Singapore's NTU doesn't require TOEFL marks so is it a good univ for Engg .. also please suggest more good colleges in India ?

Singapore's NUS is their highest ranked school IMO.. Lotta people go there every year. I think it'll be a very good opportunity if you get the chance...

As for your Google, Apple and Microsoft aspirations, I can't comment cos I'm not in one of them nor do I know how to work towards them.. For the game developer stuff, I've seen Master's degrees offered in many big universities in the USA. There are many facets of game developing. ie. hardcore programming, modeling, designing and art leads, etc. Do your research on what you want buddy... :)

I have not really decided that I want to do MBA,its just a thought I am not really intrested in programming so I thought it would be cool if I manage SCE  I am besides MBA also intrested in aeronautical engineering that is be a scientist at ISRO.

Should I concentrate on my school internal exams too?

You have to do some soul searching and find out what really interests you. I would suggest looking at job profiles post courses to get an idea as to what kind of a person you want to be. For example, if you see yourself as a software programmer,(obviously, you aren't interested as you say but I don't get an example for now! :P ) you need to do a course in computer and sharpen your programming skills and stuff.

It is very easy to say you are interested in something. But do you really want to do it? That IS the question! :)

Doing well in school will NEVER hurt you, my friend! :) It will be very helpful on the other hand. You can relate to various experiences from your school education and the projects you did, the opportunities you got, etc. as you go further ahead. You may wonder that a regional language test is going to be of no use to you. I would concur as well. But places like the USA would never ignore your grades and a dip in one would not give a bright idea about you. Don't hamper your chances by not concentrating in school. They will serve as ground work later on. You may feel uninspired to study some lessons, but have you got a choice? ;) Do well in what you have...

Also, try and diversify yourself instead of just sitting with books all the time. I'm sure it's not impossible! :P

P.S: Ignoring school will make you regretful like me... Do you want that? :P:bigyellowgrin:

NTU is good as well! Costs, I don't know. You will have to look up their website. The info you need will surely be found. If the degree there wasn't good, no one would go there buddy! Try and figure out the type of students who have gone there previously from your school records. Talk to them about their experiences. Then relate to your current situation and judge your potential. Do your part of the work. Remember, this world will never spoon-feed us everything! :console:

Please NO! Don't idealize my situation. I'm not a success story. Just trying to tell you both something cos I don't want you to have misgivings about education. Just think about it. By the end of school, you would have done 15+ years in it. You really don't know anything other than studying to think of excelling in! So, don't take it lightly like I did... I didn't fail but I didn't reach the place where I aspired to cos I pushed for it late and it ended up being too late! :( You will have to repent a lot, later on...

I am just as uncertain as you with my life. Just that I don't have regrets ever since my 12th.. :) I'm working for my Master's admit now and hope it works out well. :)

All the best!

i dont ignore school, its just that our schoolwork along with internal exams is really tough and often very hard to cope up with.

So I am afraid if those colleges ask for my internal examination results. last exam I got 51%

boards is different though I got wayy better in boards.

cant I hide my internal school examination marks :(

I think the only thing you will end up submitting will be your "official" transcripts as proof that you have finished studies. That will only be the certificate of completion issued by the board of education and/or the mark transcript. So relax! I just said, try concentrating and don't leave it late... :)
