pbpoovannagamer
SAD NEWS : Tomb Raider fails to reach sales target http://asia.gamespot.com/news/tomb-raider-fails-to-reach-sales-target-6405929 As part of its latest financial earnings report today, Square Enix announced that three of its big-budget titles failed to reach their sales targets. Tomb Raider has sold 3.4 million units worldwide since launch this month, Hitman: Absolution has moved 3.6 million copies to date, and Sleeping Dogs has sold 1.75 million units since its summer launch. These figures do not account for digital sales. Square Enix said despite a "high critical acclaim" for each title, sales still came up short. In particular, the publisher called its North American sales force "ineffective," noting that title sales in this region made up just a third of the number of units sold in Europe. Another reason each game failed to meet sales expectations, Square Enix said, was due to price pressure being "strong." This forced the company to spend additional capital on channel costs like price protection. Square Enix president Yoichi Wada announced his resignation today amid an "extraordinary loss." dante77
3.6 million is considered less now? I thought a game is success if it sells more than 1 million units.
pbpoovannagamer
game was sold at lower prices hence higher sales target
dante77
Lower prices?
ALPHA17
Lower prices? I think it was sold for ~$45 instead of $60 (on STEAM). It is sad that the games are counted a success on sales numbers, that too only boxed, digital distribution is the future and we need to change to account for this. playstation
I think it was sold for ~$45 instead of $60 (on STEAM). It is sad that the games are counted a success on sales numbers, that too only boxed, digital distribution is the future and we need to change to account for this. They are not even counting digital sales in that 3.4million sold.. sala samaj mein nahi ata hai ..how it failed...I was happy that there will be New Tomb Raider already in the making after the succes of the game. Was even thinking of writing suggestions for 2 to CD , Its been oonly 25 days also...game will easily go on to be one of the best selling TR games. Heaven Angel
WTF is this man, they say not just tomb raider but Hitman and Sleeping dogs also didn't reach the target.. 3.4 mil for lara and 3.6 mil for Hitman is not a bad score and they are not even counting digital in this figure, what were they thinking 5 mil above on all games, they have done a good job, and still they are going in loss .. Man i hope they recover soon .. now lara should do some more magic
