kvignesh Posted December 10, 2010 Report Share Posted December 10, 2010 Hello everyone, I Plan to buy a Wii,so searched on the internet about it and i found nitendo japan covers indian operations too and it is distributed by hcl.I live in chennai and i want to know which is a good place to buy one?.and I have few questions 1)Is there a service centre located in chennai? 2)Is that japneese version of Wii? (supports PAL?) Please advice ..I have been away from console gaming for long time(last one i had was ps1) and only latest thing i have is a psp slim. Bird Bird Bird Posted December 10, 2010 Report Share Posted December 10, 2010 Dunno who manages Wii distribution in India, but I've seen quite a number of them @ Landmark & Planet M. The launching price for 19k AFAIK, but I'm sure it should be down to 12-14k by now. Do remember the availability of games is a major PITA in India and you will have to order the latest (and not-so-latest) games from Play-asia etc. So what I would recommend is get a Wii from USA if you can. Wii is much more than motion gaming. It's tremendous fun when coupled with friends & family, and many games are real gems just wanting to be played ! kvignesh Posted December 10, 2010 Author Report Share Posted December 10, 2010 Thank you all, I might vist a shop called moosa games in ritchie street they seem to be the best when it comes to pricing in chennai.My friend Got an ps2 recently for under 5k and he said that Wii was around 14k(whereas in the game "the" shop at express avenue it is 18k with an discount offer while purchasing a extra wiimote and nun-chuck).Your advices on ps and xbox got me thinking and i think i should learn about these a little more before choosing one. The things i expect from the console is good graphics,also i dont play online as i feel my connection is slow for that(512 Kbps).so which might be the best? If you need good graphics, PS3 is the way to go (provided you have a HDTV/HD monitor). If you are gonna play on SDTV, Wii will do just fine. But decide on the types of games you wanna play. sagalime Posted December 10, 2010 Report Share Posted December 10, 2010 For good graphics PS3 is the better choice. The multimedia capability of ps3 is always a plus. Games are easier to get. Since you already have a psp there is also remote play. But do look into the games for wii and ps3 and decide which you would like to play more. Period Motion gaming is just a part of what it offers, the best thing is that you'll get to play all the Nintendo IPs Also get the NTSC version only as official Wii games in India are NTSC.....The best option would be to get it from US, if not possible then get one from eBay. kvignesh Posted December 11, 2010 Author Report Share Posted December 11, 2010 As you people advised i saw some video reviews of wii games,i very much loved their style of play which where mostly casual gaming and thats what i need.I also visited the shop i mentioned before and they sell wii at around 12k and extra set of controller at Rs.1400 which i think is good deal,but i wont get any gurantee on the console,but the shop have their own technicians(who were quite knowledgeable) can repair of the console if something happens.The shop also seem to have good reputation among gamers here.I suspect they are getting the consoles from Singapore(??????),which is the usual way electronics come to grey market in chennai. How to know whether it was modded?What are the disadvantages of modding wii? P.S:I am used to modding mobile phones.but i wouldnt take the risk with wii!
