xbox 360 crashing.......... alot

well, got my VGA coupler at last. connected everything up....... all is good.... but then when i stopped playing and exited the game and came on to the dashboard........ the monitor crashed......... the screen froze with some weird arse pixel pattern.

now started playing again today, playing assassins creed. now everything is going well, then when i comes to the load screen..... it crashes. then messed about with the resolution.......... then it crashes again, now it crashes in different points. same wired pixel pattern thingy comes on the screen.

ive tried, when it crashes, to take the vga cable out, then put it back in. same frozen picture comes up, even disconnected the vga coupler, then reattaching it...... same picture.

now, im guessing its my xbox 360. but its never ever crashed on me before. im gonna try to play on normal tv now to see what happens.

but can anyone suggest a solution?

i still think its a GPU problem - lowering your resolution has eased the pressure of the graphics chip and thus it only 'appears' to be okay...

I'm not sure if the resolution increases teh load on teh gfx chip between 720p and 1080p. Doesn't the X360 make use of a scalar chip (ANA) to upscale 720p content to 1080p ?

he couldnt have been outputting at 1080p in the first place as the monitor he borrowed from me only supports a max res of 1280x1024...
