i know its good.... but GOTY ? i don't think so. Game has no variety at all...you fight same enemies and bosses again nd again..which i don't like it..Only good thing abt this game is combat imo..

And what else does it needs ? its a combat game, if the gameplay is sublime then it literally doesn't needs anything else....also its IGN's GOTY.

The enemy variety is serviceable enough.

What's even more funny is that you call Bayonetta repetitive but don't have the same attitude for Alan Wake, its no denying that Alan Wake was a good game...but its equally undeniable that it had one of the most repetitive gameplay seen this gen.

Game has no variety ? explain how please. Did you even play the game beyond the easiest difficulty ? Did you manage to get all the weapons ? How many games have you riding a missile and playing 2 different kinds of game mechanics at the same time in that segment ?

Bayonetta is a game that is meant to be played more than once to understand and enjoy the stuff it has to offer, once you unlock arsenal and try different combos at higher difficulty. Did you go beyond the initial 3 button, mash 5 times move ? Try that on other difficulties than normal and see having your a*s handled to you on a platter smothered with Jeanne's lipstick.

There are 24 categories (as per bayo wikia) of standard enemies including 6 bosses. Some of them at first serve as mini bosses and later on become standard foes once you power up- Glory and Grace; Joy for example. What more do you want, honestly ?

Or is it that you were flabbergasted by the sheer no. of stuff happening on screen and were not able to distinguish between "omigod he is impaling me" no.1 from "omigod he is impaling me" no.2  ?

The game offers so much to do if one is attentive and enthusiastic enough to put time into it; within a few seconds, you can easily run, morph into a panther to run faster, leap and double jump quite a long distance, attack with multiple combos in midair, then land, swap weapons on the fly, do some more combos and dodge an attack at the last second to initiate witch time mode and proceed to raise mayhem (with style) further.

The boss battles are among th best that i have come across, after dmc3. Jeanne battle specially is the boss battle of the year for me. If only you would have spent time in exploring the game and its nuances than caring about how many different color pallets there are in the enemy design :|

GOW 3 has solid combat plus lot variety...and same goes for Castlevania..

oh please  dont put gow anywhere near bayo's combat. Havent explored Castlevania that much to pass judgment but its in the same category as Kratos, Darksiders' combat. They, while good are neither as epic nor as diverse as the likes of bayonetta and DMC levels of hack and slash.

Alan Wake gets nominations because GS is a confirmed xbot site.

Yes both MGS 4 and ds were mindblowingly good but that is the point of GOTY imo

Don't bother explaining it. Gramps is a PS3 fanboy, so he says stuff like that.
