L.A. Noire

The facial tech is great. Aside from that it really doesnt look that good. Mafia 2 looked MUCH better.

Then again, I am comparing the PC version on full whack with the consolol versions so thats not exactly fair.

In La Noire EACH line of dialogue and movement recorded from actor is a unique data that takes memory and space. The wrinkles and folds on faces aren't made up of pre-determined normal/relief maps that they animate to their liking. Here the positioning of wrinkles and lip movement will will vary drastically as they are all unique movements captured from the actor's face while recording. Compare this to Mass Effect or Uncharted where the face is automatically animated according to the and you get why La Noir has to do cutbacks in other areas.

Worse framerate and tearing aside the PC and Xbox version are almost indistinguishable graphically, ofcourse I ain't talking about the advantage in resolution cause that's something which would be unfair.

So worse frame rate, tearing, higher resolution and Physx aside they are the same?

Edit I see you removed the PhysX comment. Now the post is about 25% less retarded.

He said Indistinguishablegraphically.

Both look identical, ofcourse the PC version offers better performance, resolution and all but comparing both side by side you cant tell which one is which.

true ! .

but mafia 2 gameplay ? it was better if you just left vito around to do practically NOTHING . no shooting no driving. awful!

and la noire ? its rockstar . who are we kidding. the gameplay will addict even the most picky hypocrite gamers :gunsmilie:

Irony, much ? Did you compare the tearing and framerate when you said "Mafia 2 looked MUCH better than LA Noire ? "

When you compare screenshots you don't compare framerate and tearing but rather the assets and effects....which remain the same in case of Mafia 2.

Resolution comes under Image quality, it'll make the image crisper...but it won't touch the assets, effects or textures at all (which as a matter of fact are still tailored to be seen in 720p).

I CAN prove that they are the same...but can you prove otherwise ? I guess not..so the joke's on you and everyone else that's laughing at me.

yep I removed Physx cause I was talking about graphically...in any case the 360 version does uses Physx, its roughly comparable to a mixture of low-medium settings from PC ver.

I hate it when people think vanilla PC ver. = automatically a generation ahead.

Doesn't matter if the game itself is a console port in the first place.

So you are comparing 2 versions by running the PC version at 720p (to exclude higher res), taking screenshots (to exclude frame rates and Vsync issues) and ignore Physx (because its effects cant be seen visually?) and declaring that they both look alike?

Or are you saying that none of those things (resolution, frame rate, vsync, physx) make for a better visual experience?

Cause both of those replies are ......... stupid.

We aren't talking about experiences here in the first place, so that talk is bunkum.

I did specifically mention that graphically they are indistinguishable...if you can prove otherwise then we have something to talk about, if not then you aren't really making your point by biting me for what I said there.

While we are at it..what would you say regarding this

Irony, much ? Did you compare the tearing and framerate when you said "Mafia 2 looked MUCH better than LA Noire ? "

And beside who's to say that ? Who knows if LA Noire's superior animation and acting makes for a 'better visual experience' than Mafia 2 ?

But they arent. Not even close. Not unless I have stepped into some weird parallel dimension where basic things like resolution, frame rate and onscreen destruction are suddenly NOT considered graphics.

Do I really have to compare it? Is it really that much of a stretch to believe that LA Noire running on a console will have worse frame rates and (possibly) tearing than compared to Mafia 2 running rock solid on a PC? Infact forget it being a stretch, its pretty much a given isnt it?

When were they ever considered 'graphics' ? Resolution is Image Quality, Framerate is well framerate, destruction is physics.

Do I really have to compare it?

Haven't you already ?

You really think I'm gonna fall for that ?

First you compare two games on basis of screenshots, when I do the same you bring in other factors that you never really considered but now you're suddenly advocating them so as to counter my argument.

So basically graphics to you is textures. And lighting.

Good straw grab there buddy.

Umm no? I have played Mafia 2. And I have seen this in motion.
