Sackboy
bro open it up .. i ts very easy i opened it up last week and found tons of dust inside .. my PS3 also had a similar problem except it used to just shut down and no yellow light and fan used to wake the whole house up with the noise it made .. i opened it up , cleaned and works like a charm you might have trouble finding a screwdriver though and yes your warranty will be voided if you open it up ,, you can watch a youtube video on how to open it

killzone123
thanks Sackboy opening and cleaning i can do also...but since then my whatever chances of replacement will be gone for next year...and after that if still it does not work...then that will mean mess for me... the link you gave ...well ac market is a grey market in kolkata...and i dont trust those guys...had dealt many times before with shops in that market..and its usually just big claims and nothing else...but thanks for the info anyway bro i think my best bet is too just pack it and get it replaced by half cost next year if possible
Joy
Sony guys in India don't have a clue about PS3 or its hardware , how will they ever know u ever opened it.. , its just screws , open it clean it with small brush or vacuum cleaner and close it back. If it works then great , otherwise pack it up for future 50% replacement like u want to do now.

kunallkw
@aman..yes bro...thats the situation as of now...cant really help it..it sad but what to do @kunal...i already have a ups attached to it bhai... the questions i have are 1.if i open and try cleaning the ps3,will my chances of replacement get hampered in future? you void your chances for the 50% exchange if the seal is broken 2.what is this replacement thing? for example, suppose i pack my ps3 right away without trying anything more with it...and say next year i ring up sony care and tell them this issue that this has started happening from last week...will i be able to go for a replacement that time? no way they can track when your ps3 died because the service centre guys are only to check dead or alive condition and issue an RMA , although it might be risky say if sony india decides to do away with the 50% replacement policy or charges you with hefty parts replacement and repair charges that'll be a bummer. too far fetched though 3.what is the method of replacement? i do have the original box with me,rest of the wires ,ds3 all are there...so will that work in my favour? and i have to pay half price of a brand new ps3,is this right? yes you have to pack the console pretty much like it came with all contents that came along with it , and the sum to be paid is debatable but mostly people on ivg have paid 50% of current MRP , irrespective of how old their PS3's were. 4.the replacement console they will give, will that be a brand new packed sealed one? the present bundle or ps3 that is available in market that time or a old repaired one like in case of xbox? A brand new 160gb slim if you return it now take answers in bold

Joy
Seal is below the PS3, if its removed it changes color and cant be put back. Lol didn't knew that. Obaid bro u got ur answer , don't open it. BTW I got away last year for RMA of my PC Corsair SMPS , even though it had a sticker on one of the screws of warranty void if tampered , I opened it to check what's wrong thinking warranty was over after 3 yrs , but I later realized after looking at the outer box that warranty was 5yrs instead. Quickly put it back and went to Nehru Place for RMA next day , got it replaced with a brand new SMPS sent from Corsiar head office in Bangalore within two weeks.
