I am sure I speak for most of you

After years of gaming & erm..gaming we start to see patterns repeat in new games,

be it story elements, controversies, endings and stuff

So lets post here the most commonly repeated gaming trends

Here are few

1)The antagonist on defeat always mock the hero that "they both are the same" & the hero choose to spare the villain's life after that and the villain's tries another desprate attempt that kills him

2) The villain always has an even uglier form

3) Your family needs to be dead,if killed by the villain then it's better

4) Girls are evil

5) You might save the world but the item vendor would always charge you

6) The hero always "nearly dies"

7) You always have a cool rival who gives up his life at the end

I can remember only these, post on guys

:You can shoot people run like a gazelle but still will die in water

:Aliens are evil

by master Pushy I

:if there's gun...then there's has to be an ammo crate

- You are the last hope

- These are Dark Times

- America is being invaded by Russians (and Koreans)

- Average everyday guy in video games roughly translates to son of Jesus

- You wear a special suit

- Ancient humans built lots of technically advanced door mechanics

- The villain can never reason with you, you'll have to fight him/her in some way or other

- One can flawlessly make love while still wearing clothes

- WRPGs are almost always about humans sharing world with aliens/mutants or humans sharing the world with Elfs, Orcs and Trolls (which HAS to be set in the medieval age)

by Gramps

-Russian, Scot, Irish accents all sound the same

-Even undiscovered lands will have ammunition for modern weapons.

-Radio communication is crystal clear in World War II amidst explosions and gunfire.

-Your party member will ALWAYS block your shot / spell / arrow. (Oblivion is the worst offender ever).

Friendly fire isn't.

Especially recommend for rpg fans

-Your character's default walking speed is always faster than that of the NPCs, but slower than their running speed.

Your character's default running speed is always faster than that of the NPCs.

So in case you and a NPC go for a jog, you are forced to shuffle between walking and running to stay right behind him.

by Doobz(2nd one was A+)

-After you finish the game the mission is over the bad guy is dead , the govt calls and you have to go do more work :|

-When two girls are battling it out to decide your fate , the hot evil chick never wins

by AtheK

If you are on a treasure hunt, the main villains goons are always in the area which you have just discovered. The funny thing main villain is also searching for the same treasure...

by Aftrunner

Whenever you kill a final boss there is a 80% chance he will turn into another (tougher) form. Or like 4 different forms if you are playing Zelda.

by HundredProofSam

You carry an invisible weapons armoury on your back, where you can store miniguns and rocket launchers.

by Parker

-in ancient age, u cud carry as many weapons u were able 2 get ur hands on :P ... but dat was preposterous...

-skin show is a must  ... lesser da clothes = more da sells :coolspeak: ...

Legend

-Hero comes back alive even after dying 1000 Times.

-Enemy Dies 5times easier than you even if the Enemy is is 5 Time your size.

1. If you have a gun, you cant play stealthy....If you lose your gun in a situation, suddenly the STEALTH gameplay comes up and theres no ammo anywhere :D

2. Even after you fight and kill your BOSS....there is still an evil guy out there for a sequel

by Paapi

After killing all the bad guys and taking the boss down followed by a happy ending, their will be a cut scene hinting that all this was a part of 'plan' and everything is in order.

There are some parts of the world that are inaccessibly until you have reached some amount of proficiency, when you do so you would be required to break a barrier which cannot be broken through any other means, inside that barrier is a boss fight and the boss is standing waiting for you to come in

by Choron Ka Raja

you will have access to every exotic car available in the city, and you will have unlimited resupply of them, so you can crash them as many times as you want.

by Avkash

-on a long, tiring, world saving, sometimes globe trotting, even intergalactic journey, the protagonist NEVER, really NEVER eats

even after the whole castle (or whatever) has collapsed like years earlier, Lara Croft can still find perfectly spaced Hooks to help her swing easily end to end over the debris

-whenever there is an intergalactic situation, humans will always be on the heroic sides and will play an eminent (read godlike) part in the solution

-whenever there is an alien attack/a deadly virus, Americans are the only people who will save the world from everything without ever even asking for help or even communicating with other countries (Hollywood as well)

-the human protagonist can fly/operate all of the alien machinery flawlessly and he will destroy everything single-handedly although the whole of human army together could not do it for years

-the protagonist hardly ever communicates barring status updates but has badass one-liners for all situations

-the protagonist hardly ever smiles (Drake and The Prince excepted :) )

-in shooters the protagonist, however badass he looks, hardly knows how to punch, if he runs out of ammunition he knows just a few, like very few arm and leg (?) movements although he's like this really highly rated soldier

-Fighting Games: almost all the main characters will have an alter ego/nemesis at some time, how to fit that in the story ?, well where is the story anyways :)

by Devil_Angel

. Russians are always villains (Metro the only exception so far) :P

. Red barrels always explode.

. All the cool moves are done by the protagonist only in cutscenes.....and in-game you are left with crouch/duck/run/shoot and reload at max :P

by Jerush

-When you are almost dead, one burger is all you need to get back to full health

by Dante

-Thug vendors are thug

-you always have unlimited ammo when only guns can open next path

by Jeba

1) There will always be a red explosive item next to the enemies..

2) The places you can climb depends on the level designer.. In some places you can climb big walls in others you can't even jump over a small boulder..

3) There will be better weapons lying next to the enemy but he will never pick it up and shoot at you.. That's for you to kill him.

by Ne0

1. You might be the most powerful bulldozer, but you need a key to open the ancient creaky wooden door.

2. You can kill the most powerful enemies around, but you cannot remove that small pot of plant in the way, and have to take a detour.

3. You never run out of gas

4. You can run around carrying a shitload of weapons in your undergarments.

He smokes cigarettes in cutscenes and shoots grenades during gameplay.
