Meh.. GGN is okay as a place to work. As for a place to live.. Even I admit its pretty sad as of now. Traffic, driving is a mess.Same case with civic infrastructure.

As for the pic of the crappy blueline bus. Those things are on their way out... I cant even remember the last time I sat in a bus like that one.. Welcome to the new age of delhi/ncr public transport..

I agree that there is no public transport but leaving that its a good city ..good malls, roads, and crime rate just like any other good city :)

I agree that infrastructure in Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida is way better than Mumbai. But the Crime rate in Delhi and its surrounding regions is way too high compared to other Metro cities in India.

So if you have an apartment, a four wheeler, and a girl, nothing beats like that... Moreover Bulovski is there, a great guy

Wow..! No sir, it doesn't happen in UP. Haven't seen any of it in the 16 years of my stay ! :|

oh please - my wife's family from UP and I have a big family at Bihar, so it's pretty sordid in both these states.

Wow Gurgaon sounds like a terrible place to stay..

Not really.

Here's the deal with Gurgaon - there are three parts to the Gurgaon city. One is the uber rich who stay in the Golf course, DLF phases and high rises and drive mercs and bmws. Their offices are across the road and life is awesome. A lot of middle level executives aspire to this - and rent is not too bad. A decent 3bhk is upwards from 25k pm - full power backup, great maintenance. Very nice.

Then there's the BPO / KPO crowd. They stay in PGs, party late, work late, hang out in malls, and have a lot of disposable income. They are single, mid-20s and no worries. They also have no worries. The third category is the workers and rickshaw pullers and the domestic help. Lots of localities for them also, usually around construction areas. Mostly are refugees from Bihar / Bengal / Bangladesh.

Staying in Gurgaon is expensive, driving is not as bad as Delhi, parking is much easier, there are lots of rowdy elements - but there are specific markets where they don't visit. For the good life, the DLF phases are brilliant.

Well isnt that the case with every big/developing city ? But the rents are pretty enticing. Bangalore that way is pretty expensive in the rentals area. Well i guess Gurgaon is facing the "development" pangs which every city faces in its developing stage. Mysore is no way as developed as Gurgaon is but when it jumped to the next stage of developement, there were loads of local rowdies/goondas/gangsters. All it took was one bad a*s poilce officer to clean the streets. Thats another story though.

It's not. Rent's are much higher than that for premium apartments where the super rich live. But yes, you can get decent ones at a reasonable price depending on the location.

Why not stay at delhi and commute by metro like me.

you travel daily using the HUDA metro line ??

damn !! i respect your courage. That line is really tough. over crowded, bad crowd (haryana :fear:) and always glitchy.

i have traveled beyond central secretariat just twice, both times were harrowing.

That's the entry. Most are around 40-50k. There are quite a few which are upto 1l pm (non-furnished). The service apartments go for crazy rents. The highest priced apartments are right now the ones which overlook the golf course with a bird's eye view of open air toilets :P

Craziest ones are where the phoren guys stay.. The Nokia guys in my previous office used to stay in apartments with rents of about 1.5-2 lakhs per month :O (Company paid of course)
