Solitaire
Got my fingers burnt by trying to go through the same route as well... But then again the offer I took up was looking good enough on pen and paper but it was just that good on paper. The company was nowhere to figure with the likes you have mentioned. Sometimes the most obvious route is still the best only some times   But phew IOCL gg man  IOCL only takes the first 3 in the department (unless one of those 3 chooses not to register) when they come here. This of course is only for the "general category" candidates like me. They take 2 each from the OBC and SC and ST categories and for those people, requirements are significantly lower. I sat it out and went for one management/analysis side company called Mu Sigma. They told me I was overqualified and should go down the MS/PhD line instead after I aced all 4 stages of bullshit they threw at me (2 interviews even). Found out later Mu Sigma is into making people work like dogs for a minimum 14 hours a day for really low pay. Some seniors there said they couldn't stand more than 1 year in the company  Next company I went for was again this analysis job with Beroe which I got easily. Now I have an MS admit from Georgia Tech so this will fall by the wayside too.
Solitaire
Why people are so desperate for MBA ? It teaches you nothing... Â Â Because it teaches nothing and it gives money. Â That's what I feel too, but will never know till I do an MBA myself. Maybe after 4-5 years of work. People I know who've been through schools like IIM-A tell me it's pretty strenuous and they make a choice between a bath and breakfast each day cos of the workload. Don't know how true it is but I've read about this in some article about one of the IIMs too. Don't quite know about how it is in the top management schools around the world though. Bulovski
I would like to disagree that MBA teaches you nothing. It certainly doesn't set you up to be a genius, but on average, it teaches some of the tools necessary for good decision making, sets you up to handle stress effectively, and trains you to be more analytical than 'winging it'. Â I have rarely seen the successful MBA students crib about the stress - job stress is far worse. In a college, you will max lose out on GPA; in a job you get fired if you can't handle the stress effectively.

Can someone who's given the exam please guide me on the best possible source and how t go about effectively studying for GRE? Which is the best book, the best site, best place for mock GRE papers etc?  Help much appreciated! Thanks!    As a starter:   Learn the Barrons 3500 word list completely. Don't just focus on the condensed frequent words list. Quants is easy but work out such that you give more importance to the first 15 questions and still finish within the time limit. Don't rush through. If you can, try to enroll for Princeton Review's Mock Tests alone. They give you 4 mock tests that aren't too difficult but similar to the GRE. The GRE Big Book is helpful but I never went through that stuff.  GREedge.com IIRC offers 2 free practice tests too. Take those.  Keep your official ETS provided practice tests (forgot the utility's name) for the last few weeks. Use those 2 tests to gauge your preparedness (one a week before the exam and another 2 days before).  The following links will help you (practice utilities, mock tests etc):  RC Practice Utility By Lagnajeet Pradhan - http://www.codecoax.com/grerc/ MyGRE Tutor (MyGRETutor) on Twitter - http://twitter.com/mygretutor http://www.kaptest.com/myhome.jhtml?cid=1875237 My GRE Tutor - http://www.mygretutor.com/questions_li.aspx?SI=XcHA19hG6Ooby8KCCdRNsVyek9AyUl5p GRE Practice Test - http://www.greguide.com/gre-practice-tests.html http://gre-success.pbworks.com/Individual-Preparation-Notes-from-Members  Hope this is helpful. I'll deffo be getting Barron's latest version, and I hope I understand hrough that book what you meant about the first 15 questions in Quant, I didn't quite get that part. Also Nova's book is really good for the quant, from it's review. http://www.happyschoolsblog.com/review-novas-gre-prep-course-with-software/  Apart from that I've heard that GREBible seems to give some really tough GRE papers but they do you good if you can score well in those. Powerprep gives you an idea of +-10 of what your GRE score should probably turn out.  Also any particular advice of how to learn all the words? Simpy go through reading and understanding them or use flash cards? Any other more productive/speedy methods?

Simpy go through reading and understanding them or use flash cards? Any other more productive/speedy methods?   You're welcome. Hint hint: Rep  I meant in the actual test. Out of your quants questions in the actual GRE Test, take the first 10-15 very seriously cos they'll more or less decide your marks. f**k them up and you'll not cross 750. Powerprep will give you + or - 50. So take it in the final week to assess your level of preparedness. My quants prep was limited to these practice tests I took and practice questions from different websites. Very rarely did I try anything from Barrons itself.  I just went through reading all the words I could. Didn't finish even half the words cos I had barely 1-2 weeks to read for the GRE. But then I knew most of them. Go through all the words in the word lists quickly once and mark any particularly tough words, then read those words again and again instead of trying to divide your attention between all the words. For me flashcards never really worked, but YMMV. A lot of people say flashcards are easier to learn from and if you have the time , you should try making them. The old GRE, unless you've already written it.  MS Electrical Engineering (no, none of those MIS, MIMS things which you can get into easier and can finish in a year). The name differs from univ to univ but it's essentially for subjects involving electricals/electronics/communication. Wireless sensors, robotics, networks, controls. Those are my areas of interest.  University of Illinois , Urbana-Champaign Georgia Tech, Atlanta University of California, Los Angeles University of California, San Diego Pennsylvania State Univ, College Park (main campus) Arizona State University, Tempe

praveer
May seem odd asking here but is anyone here interested in starting a Cry Engine 2 or Unreal Engine 3 project? (basically a mod) I have this lengthy vision of what we should approach, who knows if it turns up into something big.
